Alright I got everything on my car running today, when I sit at idle, it reads 20 vac. which i'm told is a good amount of vaccum. When I floor it, it only drops to 10 vac. not to 0, which I would assume it should do. As i'm driving I don't get to 0, or into the PSI side of the gauge. It goes to 10 and SLOWLY drops, going toward 0 but never really even gets to 5. Is this a bad gauge or are there other problems I need to check out?

Thanks,
Josh

What's wrong with tapping the brake booster line WTF

Isn't that where most people tap into when installing a vacuum manifold :confused:

You'll get some goofy effects as you use the brakes and the manifold draws the resevoir back down.

Best place is to tee into the line from the port on the front of the plenum which goes to the fuel pressure regulator.

well damn, that's news to me....u da man :thumb:

One way to tell if the gauge is bad is to make sure it zeros out when the car is off. It should sit on zero (assuming it's a boost/vacuum gauge). If it doesn't, it's miscalibrated.

Well today I shot a small clip of the gauges reading when I floor it through a couple of gears. Only thing is, I don't know how to link it on to this site. If anyone out there is nice enough I will send them the file if they can get a link for it to this site

Thanks,
Josh

I currently have my brake booster line tapped for my boost gauge and blow-off valve...where should I move these to?

ooops, sorry bout that...I thought I was replying in my thread :p

::hands back thread::

The vaccum only lowers when i'm accelerating, If i'm in neutral and give it a good rev, it will go to ten, but not any less. When I accelerate, it will go to 10 and keep going toward 0...This help any??

Well I found out the prob w/ my gauge..It's ####ed... :sosad: one of the threaded rods that pokes out of the gauge could be moved in and out, at one time or another it hit an internal part of the gauge causing it to sit at 10 vac. when the car is off. I was messing with the rod after that, and the needle just went limp...Now it doesn't move at all...So i'll be buying a new boost gauge. Autometer Phantom 30 Vac. 20 PSI is what I need, if you have for sale, PM me!

Thanks,
Josh
