What is this thing? PIC

In the process of removing motor/tranny, i disconnect everything from the transmission except for this black plug looking thing. Its got groves on it and had one 10mm bolt.

its either what controls your speedometer or your tach i cant remember but im pretty sure its for the spedo just unscrew the plastic and it should come right off

get a rag and some channel locks if its to difficult but dont squeeze to hard it might break. mine have always came off by hand

I got it off with a pair of vice grips. Didnt damage anything, My fingers were slipping right at that point where it would have came loose. Thanks bro

I assumed. I was more into how to get it out . If I don't know, i like to ask first. No sense in breaking something if i can wait 10 mins for a reply on here.

no problem this site has helped me numerous times and i always feel the need to help a fellow dsm'er either on here or on the road i just cant stand to see a dsm broke down on the side of the road
