What I did today...97 bumper on a 96 eclipse

Well, I figured I'll post the pics. Here is what I did today. Finally got rid of the smiley face 96 eclipse bumper. I replaced it with my brother's 97 bumper that needs to be painted/bondo. Bumper gets painted in a day or two. I'm not going to drive it like this...don't want to look stupid... Anyways, just thought I'd post the pics for anyone considering doing the same thing.. I'll post more pics when it gets painted this week.

Can't wait until it gets painted. It looks pretty bad right now with the whole crappy sanding job and it's still cracked on the side.

Anyways, hope your bumper turns out sick, I wanted to do the same on my 95, but ehhh, they wanted 450$ for 2 coats of color and a clear, so I stuck w/ my big grinning 2ga.

Nice i tried to get the same front. but it was going to come from the dealer.
It was going to be like $250 I will look for one in the junk yard.

I say keep the 95-96 bumper. I don't like it when people convert their cars for some reason, but as long as you like it that's all that matters.

Are you going to the April 20th Illinois DSM meet up? I'll be there.

As far as how long it took, I'd say it took about 3 hours total to swap them out, only because I've never done it before. The fit was great, direct bolt up.

The reason I got rid of the smiley is not all because of how it looks. You CANNOT beat the 97-99 bumper when thinking in terms of FMIC flow.

And as far as people saying paint will be expensive, I know some people that know some people that paint cars I'm getting a deal...

I dunno, I've actually seen it on a bunch of dsms. It doesn't bother me though, and that part is going to get cut off once I get a FMIC.

Looks great. Are you going to change your rear bumper as well? If you do, just an fyi you will need to extend the wiring for the reverse lights.

i see that too, like its sticking over a little by the headlight..still looks sick though man, nice work and ive been looking for those wheels forever! those look good on 2g's like that..anybody have any?
