Update: I received $8,000 for my loss and a rental car. Me and my dad went out to Missouri, a 9 hour drive, this weekend to pick up a 98 white GSX. I'll take some pictures of it when I get it cleaned as well as I would like and everything. It's really rough right now. It has a crappy filter on it and a "crushed" 1g BOV right now as well as a 14b on it. I have a nice chrome 1g BOV that I'm going to put on it once my RRE UICP comes in. Before the insurance shows up and takes my wrecked car, I went ahead and took all the parts that I needed to get this car in good working order. It has some rust on it so I'm hoping to get that fixed as best I can. It was a smoker so I'm going to take it to a Benny's near-by and get cleaned with all of their high-tech chemicals as well as a nice bath for the exterior. Now after spending the past few days cleaning and swaping, I need to get all this paper work filled out.

That sucks man, I can relate a little bit because I had a sort of similar incident last summer, but I got really, really lucky out of it.

Coming up to a stupid, STUPID intersection, I won't even try to explain it, just important to know that it is two one-way roads intersecting, and one direction has a stop while the other doesn't. Coming home one night, I'm going the direction which doesn't have a stop, going under the speed limit, car coming in the other direction got to the intersection like 1 second before me, should have come to complete stop as I have right of way, but the woman driving the car (2002 or something civic) had no patience, didn't stop, rolled through the stop at 20kmh right into the intersection as I went through and smashed in my driver side door.

She had only a big paint scuff on the bumper while I had a concave door that wouldn't close properly, so I had to drive 80km round trip to work and jam a wadded up sock against the door light switch for a week before her insurance cleared and the body shop had space to take in my car. I got REALLY lucky that it hit in the middle of the door, and all damage was confined to the door, only paint scrapes on the fender and rear quarter panel, and no frame damage. Lucky, lucky. Funny side story, the replacement door that the body shop used was the one I pulled the driver's side mirror off of about 2 weeks prior to replace my cracked one with a non-working motor.

Now I am paranoid when I drive, and always look with suspicion at other cars coming out of side streets or driveways. I also really realize that you can be the best driver in the history of time and if the person near you is a moron, you are still screwed.

I think I would've snapped and started to dig a hole so she would rest in peace. :(
