What happened to this bearing?

This is the only one that looks like this the rest have shavings in them.

I can't really tell from the pic, but it almost looks like rust. Were these pics taken right after removal or were they sitting around for a while?

no that looks like the bearings being worn down to the copper layer. check the oil supply.

Holy cow, please say that didn't come out of one of your running cars engines.

I feel a crank grind and rod reconditioning is in order.

Actually I found it so early that the crank looks great, same with the block and rods. It's crazy.

I heard a super light knock and checked it out and here is what I found. I'm actually like really really surprised. The crank could get away with a cleaning but I think i'm gonna polish it and go from there.

Looks like oil starvation to me. Might want to take a look at the oil passages and check the oil pump it's self.

Yea, the mains and the rod bearings are worn down. Fix the problem with the oil system.

Did you use a micrometer to check the journals on the crank? or did you just go by sight???

Sight, I leave the calculations to the machine shops. Long as it hasn't been turned or anything like that, it's golden.
