Im getting about 230 miles to the tank in a 91 eclipse gst. i have no idea what is good or bad so let me know.

Geez, how are you people getting such great gas mileage? I drove my car like a baby city/highway for a full tank and only got 247 miles = appx. 21 mpg. I have a 92 GSX stock by the way. What were the factory specs for MPG on the 1G's?

I've been averaging about 19.5mpg, on mostly city mileage with some backroads excursions thrown in. I haven't taken a long highway trip ina while so I'm not sure what kind of mileage I'll get there.

My 1.8L gets 38mpg on the highway :D

I usually get between 25 and 28 miles per gallon on 93 octane. I do mostly highway driving since my job is 50 miles one way. When I don't work and drive around town "aggressivly" I get around 22 to 23 miles to the gallon.

Yep...just did a cross-country trip and I was getting 27.5-28 mpg. I was using 93 and twice Sunoco Ultra 94(I love that stuff). I was getting 352-373 on a tank which I would fill to almost 14 gallons(13.975). My fuel light works and comes on as advertised at approx 2 gallons left which wouldn't be til 350 miles. This was all highway but with tolls and a 30 min traffic jam...I was extremely happy.

BTW, the car is mostly stock except for the filter, and 3" downpipe, 3" highflow cat, and 3" custom catback to a Magnaflow.

i get about 320 miles to a tank i forgot how to figure out mpg though so i will leave it at that.

Defiant, I understand your argument that mpg is the best way to compare gas mileages. However, if someone states the number of gallons they filled up their tank with and how many miles they got out of that tank, isn't it essentially the same?

So to say, I get 300 miles to a tank, assuming I mean a empty-filled-to-full tank on a standard 1G gas tank, does give us an accurate measurement, yes?

MPG is a standard where you don't have to know anything else (you might want to know mods or if it's been serviced lately, etc. But that's the same for any motorized vehicle)

By stating a tank, you have to know the size, and how can you guarantee that you're giving an accurate amount? if you use the tripometer and your gallons pumped (to make it a full tank) you can easily get a far more accurate MPG reading. Just divide the tripometer reading by the gallons added.

No its not accurate. As we all know the stock fuel tank gauge isn't horribly accurate and sometimes, depending on temperature, pressure, angle of incline, and other conditions it reads differently. Some of us could have a dented tank, a bunch of crap in there (who knows how much sediment is pumped into your tank...) ect. ect.

A tankful for one person could be two gallons different than a tankful for another person. And that is a huge difference when figuring MPG. Besides there are not any numbers on your gas gauge to judge that you are filling it up at the same point evertime. Hell I've filled up several different times when the gauge is EXACTLY covering the 1/4 tank mark and I NEVER put in the same amount of gasoline. Sometimes it differs by up to 2 gallons.

Nobody should EVER be able to forget how to figure MPG either... If you can say it you can figure it out.

Miles per gallon = XXX amount of miles driven /(per) gallons consumed.
or gallons required to fill your tank back to full.

If you want an accurate way to look at it - look at it like this -

'on a tankful of approx 13.5 gallons I get 300 miles'

Anything short of saying how much fuel you used is too vague though. Tankful is just too arbitrary.

Especially if we have different sized tanks between 1g's and 2g's, GVR4's, Evo's, and any other car that uses the 2.0L 4g63 that is on this board trying to figure out how their car compares. Granted diff gearing of these 'other' cars has an important effect, but never the less they may want to get a rough comparison of how their engine is performing also.

I just had my low fuel light come on, so I filled up.....13.2 gallons...and I went 361.2 miles on it:cool: When I go boosting like a maniac though, it drops to about 320.....thats on 91 octane chevron gas

you have a low fuel light lucky. and your car gets 320 when boosting you are so lucky i hate you when i boost like crazy bout 180 to the damn tank

lucky punk

Agreed.

Well I get 15mpg and the very best of only 20mpg, which is not good as I'm in the UK and get ripped for £4.50 ($6.50) per gallon, will my new 255 Walbro which is on order from Extreme PSi make it worse or better???

i get 600 km out of a full tank(running shell 100 octane)

when i use 95 octane,i get 540 km out of a tank

using 98 octane(which i mostly use),i end up getting about 560 kms out of the tank

i drive mosty city and secondary roads between towns,

on the Autobahn ,i cant help myself, and just end up punchin it too much, and the mileage sucks after that..

damn,u can only get 91 octane(my car will not run on 91)
95 octane(super unleaded)
98 octane(superplus..all turbo cars here drive 98)
100 octane(V power from Shell,gr8t stuff ,but kinda pricey)

i mostly tank 98 octane...

Phoenix, here is a pic of my original window sticker and the est MPG city/highway.

Also, I just got back from a 1000 mile roundtrip to Maine and the car got 23mpg avg. That is 98% highway but with the AC on and cruise set at 70mph..

One time I got 423 miles on 10 gallons. Of course I was driving like a grandma and that is NOT how I usually drive. :talon: :thumb:

Seems kind of a lot but the best I got was like 285, highest rpm reached about 5k, I usually shift at about 2-3k and about 1/4-1/2 throttle. When I had 285 miles on the tripometer, the needle was a little bit above empty line. I read somewhere that the empty light is just warning you that you have about two gallons left which is good for about another 40+/-. My drive everyday is mainly highway with about five stoplights, a few traffic jams a week due to construction. So if I was to drive till my car died I would prob get about 330-340, stock except for a cone filter and homemade oil catch can.

i usually get about 500 kilometers on a tank, mixed highway and city driving conditions.. so thats about 19-20 mpg... i'm satisfied with my fuel consumption, definitly.

What? I have a 98 gst and I only get about 140-180 miles per tank. My car is basically stock except for a k & n fipk. On my 97 rs I used to get about 230 miles per tank. Any ideas what can be causing the low gas milage???

buy hi octane!stop putting that 92 octane in ur tank,i use 98 octane and the car gives excellent milage, using 95 helps too, when i use 100 octane,i get about 5% more mileage(but 100 octane cost like 10% more LOL)
