i have a 95 tsi that just recently started having really bad idle surge problems, i looked at the VFAQ on it and was able to isolate the problem to a bad idle speed controller. The VFAQ said that i could unplug the ISC and see if it would solve the problem, it did. Is there any real negative effects of just leaving it unplugged until i can get a new sensor? If so please let me know, thanks.

When my ISC died and i did the same thing but the engine would always stall if it dropped below 1k and i learned that its very hard to drive stick when you always have to keep your foot on the gas ;) that might of just been my car though, so good luck with that

i just replaced my ISC with a rebuilt one on ebay and its awesome. Got the piece in two days from them and it idles like a dream. So get a new one and call it done.

yeah i bought a used one too on ebay and it works better but sometimes it still acts retarded and dies. When we had this problem on a mirage we took off the gear inside the tb(where the ISC mechanism is controlled) and the car just took a little longer to warm up thats it.I had no loggin capabilities so i don't know of any side effects this may cause.AC worked fine too.when i took off my tb to change my isc I noticed this isvery similar but i didn't get to take off the cover on the bottom of the tb.It started rainin so i had to put everything back together fast.if my tb keeps acting up i will try to see if i can just cheap fix it like this.if anybody can tell me some possible negative side effects of doing this, please post it so.peace.
