ok..heres the situation. ive been doing custom autobody for years...but for my own cars i'm really into factory subtle. both my previous 2g talons got eclipse 2gB make overs (im partiall to the eclipse 2gb obviously)

so this time around i was thinking slightly different. body kits are out of the question for me...anyway i acquired a 2gb front bumper with a bit of damage and can either tweak it a bit...or fix it to stock and throw her on...what do you guys think?

these pics ARE NOT my cars..thanks to whoever's cars they are. they were good angles for what i was looking for for a quicky foto chop. the idea is basically just shave the side markers (did i mention im cheap...bodywork for me is free...the $20 for corner markers will go to my other projects) shave the fog light housings (again..too cheap to want to buy em) and lower the mouth to basically eliminate that little black strip that comes stock on the bumper. (most people usually cut that part out to go big mouth)

so lets here some opinions. i can do any combination of the three. shave the markers and fogs and keep the mouth. shave the mouth and makers and keep the fogs. you get the idea...

oh..lastly. im not worried about going big mouth. the car will never see a front mounted IC (IF it does later later down the road..i can open it then...but i doubt it. i have too many other project cars..the GST stays my daily driver only)

here they are. no need for negativity...thumbs up or down, or a :barf: is more than enough!

thanks guys! :thumb:

I think they look "freakin' sweet"(Peter Griffin, Family Guy) the way you have done them. Do it like that and I'll problably get it an accident doing a double take. :thumb:

whoa, that truly looks awsome. simple and clean. i love it. do it! do it noooow!

hell write a tech article on it too. im sure many tuners will be interested.

dropping the line on the opening adds mass to the front bumper, but also slenders it back out by making it flow better, particularly sans fog holes and bumper lights...

I say go for it

dropping the line on the opening adds mass to the front bumper, but also slenders it back out by making it flow better, particularly sans fog holes and bumper lights... IT completely changes the look to more of a sucker fish/catfish look...

I say go for it. If you don't like it I bet someone will and you can always go 2gb stock again

It looks damn good. I've done the same thing in many of my photoshop work. Definately like the look. I'd be curious how it holds up being urathane though. I was thinking about doing the same thing when i had an eclipse front and i was told everything would have to be "urathane welded" which i assume is adding plastic material. Would look great though.

Very clean, it's something many DSMer's have done in photoshop, but i don't think anyone's every actually created a physical one. I actually was thinking of having one made as well... but decided on getting a new turbo instead :p
Here's one I did about a week ago of Jay123's car. (he ended up using it in his sig...)

I was actually considering doing this when I got the bumper...the only fear I have is not making it smooth enough and having a hump in that section..I might give it a try.

If it were mine I would keep the side markers, shave the fogs, and open the mouth up instead filling it. Just my 2 cents.

WHERE do you find tho's front lips ?? the front spoiler? heard it called a ton of things
The lip on the buttom of the front bumper? where do you get one of theM?!?!?!
I can't find one,

hmmm....what kind of product would you use to mod the bumper...the bumper flexes waaaay to much to use bondo and fiberglass is pushing it also..so what would you use??

nope..bondo and fiberglass are out of the question. (imho fiberglass just doesnt belong on cars, yeah..i know some cars come factory will all or some FG...corvette, cherokees etc..but i still stand by my humble opinion! :D ) there are alot of urethane products out there made for this stuff...but its difficult to work with and usually $$$$...so most basic shops dont want to mess with it. thats the reason its harder to find willing shops. go to a shop who specializes in custom body. theyre the only ones who will usually do it...or at least attempt it if they havent done so already.

i'll keep you guys posted...if i remember i'll do a write-up on it. im still debating...sometimes i'll like it ALOT...but then again...i almost ALWAYS like factory. i dont wanna do it and then get burned out on it later...

hmmmmm! VERY interesting suggestion MrBentley. very....

i still want to drop the top of the mouth to meet the lines along the side oepnings...but wider...hmmmmmm....

MrBentley...i think you sir have just made up my mind.... :thumb:

edit: ok..im sorry...but thats like the most f'ing sickest eclipse bumper ive ever seen. thats what was missing! im sold! i like that ALOT...im doing it...i'll keep you guys posted on it...
