What do I need to replace my windshield?

I have a bad rust problem where the body meets the windshield. I wanna get rid of that and replace the glass but i have a couple of questions before start tearing apart my car.

1. What do I need to get the job done? Sure, the windshield, the molding and some special glue. But are there any small parts I don't want to miss?

2. There are two different windshield part numbers for eclipses with and w/o a sunroof. In Europe there was only the non-sunroofed version but I'm one of the blessed having a sunroof in my us import. I found a thread on dsmtalk where the users claim there's no difference. But why are there 2 part numbers?

I don't wanna do all the work on my own and mess shit up. I have a buddy who is a professional :thumb:

The difference in the windshield part numbers is there is a stock tinted top on one window and either none, or less of an amount, on the other.

IIRC, the sunroof windshield has the extra tinting on top, perhaps to do with the lower headroom in a sun roof car?

As for the windshield if you have not had any experience with removing the glass I would highly suggest just paying a glass company that specializes in windshields to come out and do it for you. There are specialty tools that can be bought. I know the harbor freight around my way carries the tools.

well im a country boy and i like to do it all but i lete someone else have at it on this one ### they garauntee it and where im at it was only 150 and they drove to where my car was and did it right there whovere payed 300 well lets just say "DILDO DAN" snuck up behind you on that one ....LOL

Dude, it is a PITA withput the right tools. Beter off paying $160attention like i did.... 3 times (crazy ex gf) that is the only time anyone but me has touched the car since ive owned it.

If you're going to DIY your windshield replacement you are going to definitely want to make sure you have some strong suction cups to hold the window (if you're going to install it that way).

If you're into the whole weight deletion deal you may want to spend a little extra money (maybe) and time and get a lexan window molded.

Just my 2c on an old(er) thread.

I'm pretty sure most insurance covers the windshield with no deductible, at least that's how it is out here is MA. Windshield installs should be left to the pros IMO.
