I just replaced the oil return line gasket.. because it was leaking before the bolt didnt seem to be stripped or stripped all the way because it went right in and went pretty tight, but then it started to slowly leak again so i tighted the bolt more!! this of course was a HUGE mistake and i stripped the bolt! Is there anything I can do to fix this problem besides tapping a bigger hole!?

can i use any kind of gasket sealer or anything like that?

if you striped the oil pan holes you'll probly need a new oil pan or at least try to tap it..
if you striped the turbo side then well you are gunna need to find a machine shop to re tap that cause its hardend steal but you maybe s.o.l

if it is the oil pan just drop the pan drill out the stripped hole and throw a bolt through both of the holes that way there are nuts on the outside as upposed to threading bolts into a blind hole. but be sure to tac weld them in place.

is tehre anything i can do besides taking off the oil pan or tapping a new hole?! its the bolt at the oil pan

are we 100% sure that it in FACT the oil pan is stripped and not the actual bolt? have you tried another bolt in the same hole?

no i didnt check.. but ill check.. where do you think i can buy one of these bolts? like at autozone? advanced auto or something?

first remove the one "good" bolt and try it next door to see if it takes!! if so order one online or from mitsu ( replace both ) if that doesnt tighten up and it turns out to be the oil pan stripped you can and this it totally up to you- try a thread chaser first, not a tap! that will clean up the threads in the oil pan. You can coat the chaser in white lithium grease to pick up the shavings if any so they dont go into the oil pan!!( yes this works ). but if you are skeptical you will need to remove the pan, this is just a suggestion not gospel

I've stripped mine before. Both of them. Easy fix.

I believe those bolts are a 6mm x 1.0 pitch if I remember correctly.

Drop out the oil pan.
Get a tap the same size of the bolt.
Slowly run the tap through the stripped hole with a hand-tightener.
Slowly run it back out.
Clean up any metal shavings that might have gotten inside the pan.
Make sure the new bolts securely thread in the pan.
Throw the pan back on, bolt everything back up.

By the way, you don't have to order new bolts from Mitsu or from websites. Go to lowes or home depot and match the old bolts up to new ones. The metric bolts are harder to find but they're usually in bins at the hardware store. And like I said I believe those particular bolts are 6mm x 1.0 pitch (6mm as in the diameter, not the head size). Only bolts I'd ever purchase from the dealer are flywheel bolts.

Good luck
