Ok I was just wondering what I forgot for my engine build up from ffwdconnection.
Im looking for the engine to be bullet proof, and hold 450 whp and way more, with 25lbs of boost, and a 50 wet shot possible.I figure Im over doing it but I want it to handle the abuse Im going to give it.

*Comp Cams 101200's
*HKS Adj. Cam Gears
*Wiseco 9:0:1 comp&.020 bore with "slugs of brawn" coating by ffwd
*Oliver 6-bolt I-Beams rods
*Ferrea super alloy valves
*Ferrea +1mm 6000 series competition guides
*750cc Injectors (on ffwd site)
*FFWD hi-flow fuel system powder coated dark burnt orange
*AEM Tru-Power pulleys powder coated dark burnt orange
*Level 4 head powder coated dark burnt orange to match engine bay with black lettering to match exterior color
*ARP head studs, main studs, rod studs, exhaust manistud kit, turbo ss bolt kit, O2 kit(all found on ffwd under "pieces")
*6 bolt butcher reconditioned crank
*ICS titan copper HG
*forward facing filter bracket with oil feed T fitting
*Topline water pump
*solid lifters from big len products, or 3g lifters
*topline rocker arms
*"MADS springs" high pressure dual spring kit *included in kit springs, Ti retainers,&pucks(ffwd)
*BS eliminator kit
*Ferrea valve stem seals
*Ferrea valve locks
*Billet steel main caps
This is an idea of what is going into the ffwd 2.0 engine, did I forget anything...and "YES" I know DSMLink or stand alone, Im more or less talking about internals of the engine or stuff attached to engine like water pump. Thanks to all for any input.
This will all be going on this summer, but Im just getting my plans together now so I can get a general idea for my 92 Eagle Talon TSi fwd ( and Im getting Quaife LSD for the end of May, and a Shep level 2 tranny over the winter along with suspension and baer big brake kit.
**EDIT Oh yeah I dont want to read any posts that doubt me ok, because its happening. Thanks, and does anyone have any input into a better comp ratio then the one stated above.

The crank your are getting from them is reconditioned. So did they machine it for undersize bearings? I have seen several people say that once you machine the crank you take off the nitride on the crank which weakens it. Slowboy has used these cranks but a lot of people on dsmlink forums and these forums are iffy about it.

Not trying to doubt you bro just wondering if you knew this. Mitsubishi says these cranks and non-servicable. And a couple people on the dsmlink forums have had trouble with that headgasket so just to forwarn you. Goodluck with the build

I think he just picked the most expensive parts and made a list.

Actually not, I just dont think it would be a good idea to place parts that have close to 186k miles on them, I know that the main caps arn't need such as that link showed but I want the piece of mind that everything in the engine in in good condition and Im not going to a salvage yard or junk yard to get the mains out of a motor with less miles on them because if Im spending 7k on the engine Im not putting any old junk part into it.
minus the Topline parts
I should take out the water pump but the rocker arms are staying...or maybe just oem rockers.
Why not call ffwd and ask them?
Thats what I am doing within the next 2 weeks, but I wanted to make sure I covered all my bases before I go talking to them and getting a price tag estamite. SoonToBeDSM06 Thanks for the tip bro, Ill bring that up when I call ffwd up. Thanks to all for the comments. Also most of the head parts and some othewr of those parts are standard issue on ffwd engines, and in the level 4 head.

o-ring the block, dont wont her to push coolant when you start to see high 500hp mark closing into the 600hp mark!!

How do you figure he didn't even list a turbo and you got him makin 500 going toward 600hp

Why such a agressive head setup just for 200's? I wouldn't go higher then 8:5:1 of your lookin to run high boost. Your missing all the typical bolt on stuff to but I see you said your just focusing on the engine but why build a long block if you don't have an idea of where you want to go with everything that's attachedto it.

He listed parts that will handle in excess of 800whp. If he was shooting for under 500whp he probably would have chosen some eagle's or scat's.

People have gone 8's with the 272's and they are pretty close in perfomance to the 101200 cams, so why not?

The thread isn't about bolt-ons ands supporting mods it's about building an engine, hence the title "What did I forget for my engine buildup?"

8.5:1 or 10:1 it doesn't really matter, it's all in the fuel chosen and the tuning.

Well since people seem to be guessing on everything else about my car, I'll clearify. For one Im looking for roughly 500whp by April '07, and as for bolt-ons Ill list a few because Slippi84 doubts that I have an idea of those. FP Green turbo (ported), MAgnus IM, bored out TB by FFWD with conditioning, AEM EMS or DSMLink, custom 3" Ti full exhaust(no cat) and a megan muffler off of a 3" exhaust set-up, Visteon rad with fans, SBR FMIC(blow thru set up), ATR hard intake pipe, A'PEXi filter, Shep stage 2 tranny, Quaife front LSD, Moroso oil pan, MSD DIS II, Nology hot wires(8mm), NGK 7s, silicon where needed such as at turbo, IC piping, ect...LPI F&R strut bars, JIC coilovers or Hot Bites, polyurethane bushings all around, stage 5 axles from driveshaft shop, xact fly, spec stage 4 supra TT pump rewired, Baer big brake kit.

People have built engines running 16g's. DOn't assume that just cause a guy had a setup that will support 800hp that's what he wants or will make. There are a lot of things that will keep a car from makin good power and one is the driver just not wanting to go that crazy with his turbo and supporting mods. He has come on and said he wants 500whp and with the list he has it won't be easy but definatley doable.

I never said I doubted your build but you have a long way to go if you haven't bought anything yet and I think when the total bill hits your pocket you'll inderstand why. Good luck to you and by the way you do know that 500whp on a green is a race gask task right.

Edit: By the way for someone that posted asking for advice you sure are defensive and short with peopl etrying to help you out.

Considering the amount of cash you are planning to drop on your car, I'm surprised you haven't listed a twin-disc clutch.

I have been thinking about it but I figure the spec 4 will hold, till I get the $$$ for a twin. Sorry if I seemed short but I didnt mean it to come out that way, and as for the bills yes I have added up just for parts and when Im finished with it 100% in the next 2-3yrs I should have close to 20k into it, and as for the power Im merely looking to come close to 500whp, because Im not all about power more for a well rounded sleeper 1G for high reving and high speeds on back roads and the occasional trip to the drag track, I have a more comprehensive(sp?) list then what I listed above but its on my pc and I dont have the time to go on presently, and with that new list it should be a little less hard to reach 500whp:sneaky:

Yeah as long as you know how to or know someone to tune with ems you def have a 500whp capable car no problem. Good luck to you :thumb:

are you saying that this is going to be a daily driverOMG . i would think nothing more than a 350-400hp car would be good enough for a daily driver. you will probably have some trouble with a spec stage 4 as just the stage 3 alone is an on/off switch, especially since your looking at making 500whp. remember, stop and go traffic is a pain. if i were you that would be my track monster, and i would probably have another with some mods that is still easy and fun to drive daily. but hey, its your car. imho, this seems like a pipe dream to me, i mean, no results for up to 3 yrs means that you probably dont have the $$$ now, right? how can you expect to have that much 3 yrs from now, i mean unexpected things do come up. i hope it all works out for you, but i know a lot of people that said the same thing and nothing has happened yet. i would start off slow and be somewhat conservative with your $$$ and build off of that for a few years. thats a lot to handle in that short amount of time. best of luck to ya.

I have a 500whp potential car and I plan on dd my car. I think it's just a matter of what you conside dd friendly or not. I know a lot of guys that have setups similar to mine dd their cars though and consider their cars very ever day friendly.

i agree. i guess that just seems like a lot of hp for a dd car. plus hes only ff, seems to me like there would be a lot of unwanted squeeling of the tires while just trying to pull away from a red light.

Front Engine, Front Wheel Drive = FF

He appears to have a tsi not a tsi awd.

"loads...just about everything you could think of for a 1g talon tsi...but first buy a 92 tsi awd with the 6 bolt engine and 4 bolt rear"

He has that in his profile though

I currently have the $$$ for most of the big stuff such as engine, tranny, and paint, and for a few custom one off pieces, but but merely waiting for school to finish so I can start, and Im going to take my time on the build up and use it as my project for college, and I totally get what you are saying about it being a pipe dream, and how things can pop up like and accident, or what ever else but if all goes well then this will go through, and hopefully before nopi nats 07, and the car will be 90% finished by next september, and 100% in next 3 yrs because I have to do some testes on the structural integrity of the car for the final touch that will make in the only one of its kind.It is going to be a DD aswell, and my dad is getting me my 92 6/4 awd talon for graduation, so all this will be going into that, tires would get too expensive:p

Yep got a shop specificly for our cars, with an awd dynojet, and they can tune my baby, and its only 20min away:thumb:

well i guess you have pretty much have all of the kinks worked out then!:thumb: that sounds awesome. cant wait to see the final result. keep everyone posted. good luck:thumb:
