White Eclipse, white tail-light center piece, eclipse lettering, 17" or 18" Rims, lowered is the BEST looking period. White is easier to take care of and imprefections do not show up as easy.

Black would be a near second. In the area I'm at it seems like there are too many black ones though, which is probably why I'm not a big fan of black. Plus, the body imperfections show up nicely.

Definetly black. Im about to own my second black one. :thumb:

I currently have a red eclipse and am considering painting it black. I heard that alot of the interior trim and stuff though cannot be painted and it will look bad... any suggestions/input?

Burr, I'm an expert on this subject via way of repeated failure.

I had an all grey eclipse. Inside. Outside. Grey.

I started by taking every single peice of interior panel off and scrubbing it down. My original intentions were to fiberglass them, then use automotive paint on them... the same that you would use on the ousite of you car.

Well then I got to thinking, I'll just primer them up and paint them and see how it goes.

I used duplicolor paint with literally 8-11 coats of paint ontop of a thick primer coat for every peice, topped by several clear coat layers. They looked very, very nice. I painted the majority black, and the trim white.

Then when I got to the cloth sections on the door, seats, etc, I figured they would look like crap, but I went ahead and used the duplicolor fabric paint anyways, which is jut dye. It took ALOT of coats.

Then, My dash, and top of my doors were not plastic. They were this vinyl, pleather type material that was kinda squashy. I was told by other DSM tuner members that krylon would bond to this. So I used the krylon on all this, and it looked shiey as could be after 2-3 coats, even shinier than the plastic parts.

THEN

a week later I noticed the krylon parts still seemed wet. Infact, if I pushed down, it left a fingerprint. They stayed like this, forever. The plastic parts, no matter HOW CLEAN or HOW MANY LAYERS OF PAINT you put on them, WILL CHIP if you are careless with them.

However, 6 months later the seats and fabric parts still look great, which isnt what I expected at all.

So trust me... take the time to fiberglass the parts first. It is so worth it. It will look much better and the paint is made to bond to it. Especially if you live in a southern climate like myself.

Okay, in a few months (probably with some tax money) I am going to get a new paint job. I was planning on doing it solid black, and retinting the windows with limo tint. Now I am wondering if I should maybe paint it a different color instead. Could you guys please post any pics you have of 1Gs, so I can get an idea of what it would look like with different colors?

Thanks!

I have the same color car as you, and I'm going all black this spring.
Changing colors is rough, you either have to remove the doors, and hatch, and repaint the sills, as well as the insides of the fenders under the hood.....or just have a bunch of shit on your car that doesn't match.

Black is hot, I say keep it.

alright, so i just got all my stuff on my car..blitz rear bumper, blitz side skirts, turbo spoiler, stock 97-99 front bumper, black projector headlights...i shaved the rear bumper, side skirts, antenna, roof lines, door lines, etc. car should look good...my question was....what color should i paint the car..either HOK MAGIC blue, which is alot like nissans daytona blue which is the blue on the 350z, with a little pearl..or jet black with an a$$ load of blue pearl..post your thoughts and let me know..i will prolly be putting on a carbon creations cf lip..So post up a bunch of stuff and let me know..thanx

Neither , go a super white pearl color but if you have to get one of the above then get the blue. either would be sweet .

I think that the blue would look pretty badass.. I'm thinkin about painting mine Cadillac Pearl White whenever I get the money.

i'm not quiet sure but i know there is a member with 350z blue paint job on the spyder.. I think blue would look nice but i would go with EclipseTrbo420A and go with super white pearl color... I saw 2005 RSX with white perarl color, damn the paint looked so good i have a doubt if i want red now..

his member name is IMMORTALSPYDER check out his gallery..

Hiphop's car should give you an idea of the blue...

And the white's good too. As long as it's done right, any color can look nice. :thumb:
