Im looking into building my own stroker kit, and Im just wondering which car came stock with the 2.4l that the crank comes from.

Im thinking I can find one in a junkyard around or something.

Yes, 2.4 came in 2g Spyders (no production 1g spyders made). Basically the 4G64 engines had the 2.4. The 4G64's also came in 3g's so maybe check there if you want to.

There's a list on Wikipedia of all the cars that came with the 4g64.

Here
Seems accurate, but I bet they are not all the exact same 4g64.

I believe the g4cs came out of the Hyundais. The g64b came in the galants before it switched over to the 4g64.

what year of galants?

thanks for all the help so far.

are any certain gens better then others?

I would say if you can find a 94 Galant with DOHC, it's very rare. But, then you can use the whole engine out of it, a true 2.4, not a 2.3. Also be aware of 6 bolt engine or a 7 bolt engine, which ever one you're building. It might be easier to find a 7 bolt crank, but it wouldn't work if you'll be using a 6 bolt block. Be aware...

A G4CS is a 6 bolt 2.4L so those are pretty popular, they are getting hard to find though. I decided to get a post '99 7 bolt 4G64 because of the easier installation compared to the 6 bolt for my 2G, and because the engines built after '99 have the split thrust bearing design which has a hugely lower crankwalk incident rate.

The 4G63 head is the same as the 94 Galant GS DOHC head. The only difference is the cam gears, if you use the 4G63 head you can just remark the gears at the mechanical timing mitsu set the DOHC 4G64 for.

hmmm.

well thanks for the help.

now the dumb noob qestion.

How do you tell if its a 6 or 7 bolt?
the amount of bolts in the flywheel?
