My friend has a 97gsx and its in perfect condition, but has 133,00 miles on it. He wants to do a rebuild and is wondering is it alright to go with a 7bolt rebuild or will it cause problems later on. Only reason he wants to do the 7bolt rebuild is that the 6bolt population around our small town is getting really small. If anyone has some advice could he get away with a 7bolt rebuild or is it too risky?

First, crankwalk is not as common as it is stacked up to be. But would you gamble $3000 on it? I'm building a 6-bolt personally.

There are some people on here who have built there 7 Bolts and are happy with them. If my engine goes down, I think I will being building up my 7 Bolt, crankwalk is not all that is worked up to be.

I agree, Since he has plans on rebuilding a motor, Why not take the time to find a 6bolt and build it up so you have nothing to worry about. Crank walk is over used now adays but it could happen.

Try to search for the post where the guy did a complete rebuild and spents thousands of dollars on his 7bolt build over and it crankwalked not even 800 miles later. Or so I think thats how it went, It is a pretty old thread.
