I am trying to shave my engine bay and for safety I pulled all the interior out. I want to see if I can get some help on what all I don't need (bolt hole wise) on the firewall.

Basically what is all on the firewall ( it is hard to see from pictures).

Thanks.

Yeah I know this, I wanna see if there is a diagram anywhere because the bay is gutted and I don't think I can mentally count for every part on the firewall.

With custom work like this it is just something that you are going to have to feel out. There is really no said way of doing it. You really need to mock everything up and see what you need and what you don't.

Its hard to really say what you can and cannot use because depending on your setup and how much youve deleted...

I personally had every single hole on the firewall shaved, the only thing bolted up against the firewall is the fuel filter for visual show reasons

I used -3an SS brake lines and routed mine through the inside

Pick up a sharpe or white marker of sorts to mark spots that are to deleted. Pick up an alternate color to mark any that need to be kept. Begin working your way across and and sand all of these down first so you do not erase the marks.

Be careful with the fire wall. Just because you removed the interior doesn't mean you removed everything that may still catch on fire from the car. The firewall is double sheet metal and Mitsubishi put a foam rubber mat in between the two sheets.

If you're going to do your whole bay, if it's like 1g, there will be an ungodly amount of seamsealer around seams. There 1/4-1/2 gaps on mine like seen before. Cleaning all that out for shaving and stitch welding was by far the hardest part.

Unless I'm missing something...

(depends) on your setup and how much you've deleted...
that's your answer.

Maybe you've already pulled everything out of the bay? You mention pulling "the interior," from that I think we've assumed you meant the interior of the car.. Is that incorrect? There's no way to show you exactly what holes you won't need, even with a detailed list of what you've deleted. There are a lot of holes there.

Best bet is go through every part you've pulled, mock it up on the firewall, and mark-to-delete. If you do this, it would be a great time to make that tech article :thumb:

Well I'll be damned, more insulation.

Yeah it sucked but worth it.

I had mine stitch welded then seamsealed then painted :D
