Ok there was that squeky (sp?) noise under my hood on the right side, right where the belts and all the pulleys are. I know what u thinkin, tightnen the belts or replace them, but i did that, i tightened the belts and everything seemed to be goin good for a about a week when the noise strated to come back but now its a little bit differentits, still kinda squeky (sp?) and im pretty sure u can hear a little grindin' there too. i dunno about the grinding noise tho, maybe im just hearin things, but the sqeky noise, i checked the belts and they are tight just like before. The noise usually starts at about 1700RPM and after 5000 i cant hear it anymore but im pretty sure its still there... Also if u spray some WD-40 all around the pulleys that seems to help for about um... 20 min. max then it gradually starts to come back ~ and then its the embarasment time again!!! :thumbdown
So if u might know what that is or how to fix please help me out... THANKS!!!

I think that you have half your answer. The belts. When you spray belt dressing or WD-40 ,both lubricants, they will reduce the friction of the belts on the pulley enough that the sound goes away. But from all the spinning the belts shoot it all off the belts and you have the sound again.

1. Belt tension... the factory tension is there for a reason. Not to tight not to loose.... just right. if you just slapped on the belts and didn’t adjust the slack that could be it.

2. Moister… more off a problem in wetter or colder climates and older cars. During start up the belts are cold and stink. When you start it up the moister in and around the belts get heated goes between the belts and pulley and makes noises…. But I do think that’s you case….

3. pulley off balance…. not common but not unheard of. The pulleys all have a torque setting too and some times they can rust, get worn, and warp…..

check the belt tension… You can go to a local auto parts store many of the big name ones have lots of loaner tools. Good luck

also check your old belts ,if you still have them, for wear or grooving. And check the new ones to see if have the same or similar type wear or grooving

Search on "crankshaft pulley wheel"...

Seems to be a common prob where the dampener material in the wheel deteriorates...
