So I don't know if this is normal or not, but to me it would seem like something that shouldn't be happening. Now that it is starting to get colder, and the engine has to warm up a bit I am noticing that when I start my car and am driving, until the point the engine has fully warmed up the car seems to "surge" or something of that nature when I hit the accelerator. It feels as though it doesn't want to really move, then it's almost like it gets to a certain point and just sort of takes off. its so jerky sometimes it feels like it would if it were misfiring, but I know its not.

Anyone have any idea what is going on? Thanks!

Im having a similar issue. I wouldn't call it surge though.

The problem is when i first start it, if i rev it until it reaches about 2k the car sputter and sounds like a misfire. That usually goes away after i drive it whether or not the motor is fully farm. But yeah ever since the cold it started.

I thought it was the coolant temp sensor but on a logger the temp readings were correct. I think im gonna replace it anyway.

Do you have hard cold starts?

Nah, no problems in cold starts. For about a week I was thinking so, but then I figured out my battery was just going to crap. Starts up just fine when its been sitting there overnight, doesn't have a problem idling either.

But yes, it does sort of sound almost like it is having a bit of trouble till around 2k. I wasn't sure if its just something with turbo cars or whats up. It's not like I am being stupid and shoving the accelerator to the floor either while its cold, I can barely have my foot on it and I feel it.

I do, also sometimes my car will die when I first start it up. The rpms will jump all over from 0-1200. It dies sometimes and sometimes it doesn't. Also, when if I try to drive my car before I let it warm up, It wont move. I will have the gas in and it will slowly start to move after a couple of seconds (about 1500 rpms).

Depending how cold it'll start up for less then a sec in about 3 attempts itll stay running after.
