Ok heres the deal. I have bad shocks and I know this but can't afford new ones right now so the car mostly stays in the garage. I have the classic steering wheel shake at freeway speeds that goes with this issue as well as the boat effect when going over bumps. All of these aside there is something else going on. I can hear a clicking when making tight turns (probably cv joint) and the weirdest thing is when I am slowing down without breaks from freeway speeds i feel... well its like bumping.. it is too slow to be called a vibration. just bump bump bump bump but with no sounds that I can hear it is just felt. Can this also be caused by my bad shocks or cv joint? Or could this be something more serious? Also idk how balanced my rims are since they have been on there since the previous owner so would it be a good idea to take those off and have them checked for balance? I am just trying to get some info so when I get some money I can jump right into fixing the most important thing first.

noob question.... How would I go about checking that? Just jack up the car and look? Shake them around? or would I have to take them off to be sure? Can I just take off the u joint or do I have to take off the whole drive shaft?

Check to see if you dont have a warped rotor, seperated tire, unbalanced tire, bad ball joint, loose lug nuts, bad mount or mounts, bad wheel bearing. Thats among the other things that have already been said. There are so many things it could be. Your just goin to have to jack up the car and look to see what it is. Let us know.

to add on to this. I now have a loud squealing noise when I back it up. I noticed it first while backing the car out of the driveway figured the brakes were just dusty from sitting. Then I realized that the brakes weren't engaged and it was making the sound. Then yesterday I was pushing the car back about a foot in the garage with the car off in neutral with no brakes applied and it was squealing just doing that... the car was barely moving.. what am I missing? could this all be a wheel bearing going out?

If your decelerating with it in gear and the gas pedal is not being pressed the bumping may be your TPS is switching on and off? I know with mine there a point where I push the gas pedal and car seems to be confused if the pedal is at 0 or being slightly pressed.

With the car above 1200 rpms in gear and no gas being applied (engine braking) the fuel running to cylinders is reduced 100% but if the TPS is not adjusted right it may see that the throttle is being slightly pressed and switching between 100% cut in fuel to being open and adding fuel. This will result and a bumping. And easy example of this is when your driving in a parking lot say at 5mph is 1st gear, if your not careful you can give yourself wip lash and kill the engine.

So check the slack in the throttle cable and that the button on the TPS is set right.

My posting here only applies to your sympton of "and the weirdest thing is when I am slowing down without breaks from freeway speeds i feel... well its like bumping.. it is too slow to be called a vibration. just bump bump bump bump but with no sounds that I can hear it is just felt."
