weird problem, can anyone give me any ideas??

Hey guys whats going on? Ok let get down to bussiness, I am having a weird problem with my tranny, every so often when i go into second gear it pops out, it only happens when I am down shifting though? I changed my tranny fluid last weekend and put pennzoil synchromesh in it and it shifts very smooth now because the previous owner did not do any matienance to this poor girl. I was wondering what anyones ideas are, I was thinking possibly a clutch but it is throwing me off that its only second gear and only when i down shift. Any input would be great guys.

Dont down shift bro our stock trannys are made of glass why put the extra strain on the trans? I down shift in my wrx but never a dsm....unless i had a shep or tre or something of that nature. Maybe try the redline shockproof ive heard good things about that , dont think it will eliminate your problem but may help

Don't down shift in a dsm...? WRX trannys aren't the strong at all, and that is completely irrelevant to the topic either way.

im not saying i down shift like when im going faster, i mean when i am coming to a stop at a stop sign or a red light...can anyone help me?

sorry to say.but sounds like your 2nd gear syncro is going.

i thought of that but if my 2nd gear synchro is going wouldnt it happen up shifting and down shifting, and wouldnt it happen all the time?

it could happen all the time, some of the time up shifting or down shifting. I dont know why it seems to happen but my second gear syncro is out too. only grinds when trying to down shift into second, now it does nothing . so get that trans out of there and do a rebuild

well thanks guys, looks like im going to need to a) buy a used one, b) rebuild the one i have back to stock, or c) build it to withstand a mac truck , thanks for the input guys, i appreciate it
