Weird Noise When Lifting Off Clutch

When i accelerate from a stop as im lifting the clutch i hear this squeak sound that sounds similar to the sound shoes make on a basketball court when you make a quick jerk. It also makes the same sound when i shift to second as im letting off the clutch and even in third. It only does it after ive engaged the clutch and am in the process of letting it out...as im disengaging It doesnt happen when i downshift. It doesnt happen when i push the clutch in only when i release it as i shift. It was doing in rarely but now it does it every time. Any ideas?

my money is on the throw-out bearing because it only does it when the bearing is not under preassure.

no no noise at idle..only when im moving and letting out the clutch after making the shift or slipping the clutch from first.

Its a spec stage 3 so i know chatter is normal but never have heard this before.

How hard is it to put a new TOB in and how much do they cost. Aftermarket or stock?

For a new TOB you'll have to take the tranny out. Is the noise coming from the tranny? And, does it happen every time you shift? Sometimes when my belts are still a little cold, they'll squeak a little bit after the clutch engages while downshifting because they are slipping a little bit on the pulleys.

While it certainly can be the TOB, those are more prone to rattling than squeaking. I get an occasional squeak and I fix mine with some spray lithim grease on the slave rod and on the pedal assembly.

Might want to give that a shot just for kicks before you go pulling the clutch. FYI, I'm not saying it can't be your throwout, but start with the simple things first and work forward from there.

If you do have to replace the TOB I would say a new OEM one. Myaftermarket ACT has been nothing but trouble.

Sounds like my car. Or at least similar to it. My 91 turbo laser makes a wierd noise like that but it makes it all the time, even after the clutch is disengaged. Does your tranny "tick." It sounds sorda like the clutch wasnt properly installed, whenever it was put in. Maybe that helps.
