Weird noise under hard acceleration?????

its 90 talon tsi awd 5 speed and when i take of in first and second gear under hard acceleration the car makes a weird like thumping noise coming from the back pass side, it almost seems like the exhaust is hitting or something. It sounds like thump thump thump right quick then when i let of the noise is gone! What does this sound like it might be? Normal driving not a sound at all i know when i put my greddy muffler on it was some close to the rear end brace ( the pipe was very close to the rearend) maby that tis hitting when the car squats a bit. Any ideas thanks!
