short simple when i am slowing down at high speeds no breaking just let off teh gas i hear a grinding noise kind of in the front end of my car then when i accelerate it goes away it is only when my car is warm though.. any answers

Pradamike- My car does the same thing sort of, its not a grinding, more like a scuffing sound almost like something is not lubed. I checked T-case, rear end, and I have a new tranny. I'm thinking my driveshaft might have to be re-balanced. I'm taking it to a frame and suspension shop and for 25 they can tell you everything that is going to go wrong, break, how much life a part had left etc. So I'll up date after that.

nope not the throw out just got a bran new one less than a thousand miles ago and a new clutch slave master and new axles so i dont think it is that i think it might be the exhaust hitting something or it is hung loose or something

thats odd because that is exactly what mine was doing. it would make a grinding noise at idle and while decelerating in gear. was the throw out bearing properly greased when it was put back in?

i would believe so because i got it doenby a mechanic and if it wasnt i dont know how i could prove that it isnt right now

Mine is doing the same thing, it makes a grinding metal rubbing metal kinda noise at idle and when decelerating. I thought it was the throw out bearing but i just got mine replaced and it didn't solve the problem. Does anyone have any clues? Tranny Problem maybe?

I also have the same problem. I have a 2G Talon TSI, Just started recently though. While in gear and "Engine braking" off throttle, I will hear a sound thats not like grinding hard, but like a metal-2-metal rubbing/scratching sound. It can happen in any gear. If i'm accelerating or have the clutch in and coasting, no noise at all. It sounds kinda like it's comming from the t-case/drive-shaft area, but in the car it's hard to pin point. I do have a leak in my t-case that I need to fix (trying to get dealerships to cover it under NHTSA), but I check the fluid RELIGIOUSLY, and have never let it go more then .1 QT lower than it should be (~.5QT).

Still doing tons of research to see if anyone else has this issue and if they found a solution.

I'll keep all posted if I find out

You should get that fixed or looked at ASAP because my car now has a slice in the transmission from the pinion shaft rubbing the inside of the case. so I'm out af a tranny. IF ANYONE IS SELLING A Tranny for a 1991 Talon Turbo FWD i NEED ONE.

how many miles on your tranny? This is something a trans does when the bearings inside it get worn out .. the noise is the freeplay of the shafts inside the trans moving around while they are spinning.

My transmission has 116,000 on it, and has been Auto-X'd quite a bit. Which bearing in the transmission do you mean? Is this something I can diagnose myself with minimal tools?

I was also wondering if anybody knows if a 1G Transfer Case will fit on a 2G Transmission? I know that there are 23 Spline and 22 Splines, Which is the 2g?

Thanks

i have a 91 awd and it made a grinding noise when i bought it. well about a year later on the way home from work it stoped making the noise. well come to find out something in the trans was loose or worn or somehting and ground a hole through the end cap of the trans, right next to the pass. front wheel, and leaked all the fluid out. then the whole trans was junk to me but jon at tre still gave me 100$ for it. so id say find out what the sound is because it could cost you some money in the future
