chtown,
I havea 98 gsx 5 speed and sometimes ( its beeen doin this since i owned the car over a year) when i come to a stop actually its more like all teh time when i come to a stop i hear this weird clicking noise underneath. It sounds like when your at a circus or something and your spinning them big wheels and it has the arrow on it and you spin untill it stops and you win taht prize. LOL ANyways just before icome to a stop you can hear the clicking noise. Not while im driving or not any other time. ( well i cant hear it anyways) It sounds like its coming from about the middle of underneat h teh car. Only 3 things it could be a u joint, steady bearing or transfer case right?? Wich does it sound like? Thanks!

Check if any of your dust shields are hitting the rotors or if the driveshaft at the bottom of the car is hitting something. There is a shield for something at the bottom (sorry I can't remember what it it), it was about 1/2" away from my exhaust when I installed it, if the bolt of it came off, it will hit your driveshaft and you won't be able to hear it unless you slow down and are about to stop. When was the last time you checked or changed the fluid in your transfer case?

I would check axles. They usually click when turning, but who knows, maybe yours are really bad.

I second DGajre's suggestion of the heat shield on the cat. Mine, also, has come loose.

I went to a tranny shop today and asked them and the ysaid to jack it up on all 4's and get under and see if there is any play in teh universal joints or the steady bearing, i hope its jus ta u joint LOL!
