The bolts holding my water pump on seem to just keep going and going...
using a medium-small ratchet wrench.

The pump is slid all the way on, and the 2 surfaces are touching...
I dont know if I am stripping them, or what.

maybe they just don't have to be as tight as I think.

Should I just leave them alone now?

You should pull them out and inspect both your bolt and the hole that it threads into. If the bolt is stripped replace it. If the hole is striped helicoil it. The bolts should snug up at some point. Also it would be wise to buy a torque wrench or borrow one or you might be breaking alot of S or having it fall of later either way it's not good.

I filled it with water.... nothing is leaking (not that there is a ton of pressure though)
It seems like it will probably be ok...
I may try to take 1 bolt out (if it doesn't leak while doing it) to inspect.

further thoughts?

Yea don't take shortcuts. You'll hate yourself if that thing starts leaking and you have to do all that work over again instead you should verify there isn't a problem before you call the job complete.

The fact that its happening to every single one of them, is telling me that it is a problem with... me.
Its a little ratchet wrench, and the same one I used to take them off... I think they are fine.

I won't come crying to you guys, if my pump springs a leak.
Although I will blame it 100% on all of you.
:)
:p
