I've been losing water/coolant for the past month and a half. the water container with the over-run tube keeps becoming bone dry, but I notice no water coming out the exhaust. I dont see any leaks in the radiator or in the coolant container itself, and I've checked the coolant lines around the TB, and one of the lines connecting the TB to the engine is pinched slightly, but the engine never over heats. It drives just fine. Does anyone else think this is a possible soon to blow head gasket, or what are your opinions on this matter?

Yeah.. before my water pump went I noticed it smelled like coolant when I was idling. Check for puddles under your car everywhere you go.

I have no coolant in my car because its been leaking that much somehow so I just keep putting water in it. I know its a bad idea. but no i never notice any fluids leaking under my car :( except where that overrun tube is. and I have not really noticed any smells other than a bag that I ran over on i-40 that got stuck and melted to my cat that I just cannot get off w/o lifting up my car and scraping off. I think I'll take the time soon to start doing that.

is your car smoking? If there's no leaks anywhere, then it's gotta be either headgasket or turbo.

nope, no smoke.
I swear it feels like it drives normal, nothing out of the ordinary is striking me, except for the smell of that stupid bag, and the loss of water.

I ran my car at the track friday night and I got really good times. It was a 1/8th mile track, and I did 7 runs, running highest boost on stock turbo, and my best time was 9.3 somethin at 74.somethin.

My only problem at that track was my stock IC pipes couldnt hold the pressure, other than that it ran perfectly fine.

Soon Im going to get under my car, scrape that crap off my cat, and fix that pinched tube from my TB to my engine. hopfully then that will solve my problem. I put that tube on there because I had to replace the 2 tubes connected to the TB when I was replacing the TB o-rings that were dry rotted along with the 2 tubes. and I cut one of them too long, so I'll just have to cut that one shorter.

My car is doing the same thing.
No leaks exteraly but the coolant seem to disapear, im going to replace the headgasket.
No smoke at the back but the cooling system seems to build up a lot of pressure

If it were the head gasket wouldnt the be coolant in the oil????? Check your dipstick if its creamy then its deffinatlly the head gasket if not i have no clue.

It all depends where the head gasket is blown at. Look up inside you exhaust and see if it is white looking without the car running. If so it is burning coolant. Which means you have a leaking head gasket. Could be a number of reasons why you are loosing your coolant. Leaks, its boiling out. If you just put water in there it will evaporate.

Thread Revival!

I just realized that I'm having this same issue.

Everything is dry under the car. There are a few questionable hoses and such... but nothing out of the ordinary. I just put a new Thermostat in the car.. made a proper gasket using a roll of cork, and it's bone dry around the T-Stat housing.

Coolant just.. disappears from the overflow tank. It takes about 2/3 of a gallon to fill it back up after a day of driving? Absolutely no leaks in my carport or anywhere I park...Nothing.. Just.. dry. The tailpipe doesn't look/smell like coolant. It's a darker color, no powdery substance, no sweet smell.. just the faint smell of fuel that you'd expect. Absolutely never any smoke....

So.. i'm lost. >.< I run my AC constantly... just for reference..

I'm going to check around the headgasket area when I get home. Check the clamps on a couple of hoses, and also check the water-pump. None of my belts are wet.. my compression is 160 Across the board.. I have no idea what the issue is.

My money is on the turbo. It's HARD in my experience for water to get into the combustion chamber from a blown HG due to the pressures inside the chamber forcing exhaust gases into the coolant and making your radiator hoses have extremely high pressure.

There's no pressure in the lines, no bubbles (well.. unless I'm refilling the system, of course) and the turbo spools hard and heavy. =/ Like I said, the exhaust doens't drip or smoke at all.

I just walked outside and checked a few things, and something under the TB caught my eye. The coolant lines to it are gone? ... I keep finidng weird shit on this thing every day. So, inspecting things.. there are no coolant lines running to the TB. Where do the coolant lines come from? Perhaps they are plugged up and are leaking somewhere that I can't see? As I said.. I've not found a leak anywhere. There are no spots on the ground under the car and it's all dry underneath. The ONLY things that I can think of are that it's the Overflow Tank that has a crack or something in it, or the lines that are SUPPOSED to run to my TB are plugged off and are leaking...

So I thought that I had found my leak. Turns out to be two.

Leak 1 : Is coming from my thermostat housing. It's a steady pinhole stream...not even sure HOW it's leaking.. it's sealed and the gasket was made to fit perfectly..-.-

Leak 2 : Where the Feed like for the turbo cuts off, a rubber hose takes the place of a bend, and it hooks to the metal feedline from the block.. I have a leak there..but I don't know if it's simply because there is a crease in the hose and it's allowing a steady stream of coolant by.. or if there is a break in the metal line itself.

I'm so discouraged with this at the moment. If it's that god damned metal line don't I have to pull the whole damned engine just to replace that?

Please note that I've already added smaller clamps on the rubber line to keep it in place. It won't budge... So.. i don't know.
