Waste gate leak

Before My engine went out I had a leak at my external waste gate, I was told that I can make a gasket out of stainless steel. I made a gasket and it ran good for about 10 mile and it went back to the samething. I don't know what to do because of it it is a very tight fit because the of the power steering pump, dump pipe and the exhaust pipe. I was thinking there is a flange the sticks out of the waste gate into the header right inbetween the gasket I made, I looks like that is not sealing right. CAN I grind down this flange so that when I bolt it up they fit closer together? help please

Don't grind that flange. You're not accurate enough with a grinder, you'll make it worse. You know, they sell gaskets that fit that specific application. Also, I'd have made it out of a thick copper material, not SS. Thin SS seems to like to warp a lot whenever I've worked with it.

Another (ghetto) solution is axle grease. I use it between my turbine and manifold mating surfaces. If they are flat enough, then the grease will burn and turn into carbon, pretty much the ultimate high temp seal

Another thing, is it leaking past the valve, or is it leaking out into the atmosphere? If it's leaking past the valve, that's something completely different.

Try furnace cement. You can get it at any hardware store. It's good for well over 2000 degrees. There's even a dsm vendor that sells it to use for making high temp. gaskets.
