Figure I'd get a quick answer here. What's the correct warmup idle supposed to be? My motor shoots up to 2k initially now that it's cold out, thinking it may be a little high?

When first started my car idles at like 1500-1700 but after it warms up a little its down to about 800. My old eclipse had problems and would idle at 2500, constantly even after its warmed up. So as long as it goes down after a while I think your fine. Its just the car trying to heat the engine up.

no it definitely settles down, just makes me cringe when it starts off at 2k. would rather it take a little longer at a lower rpm. at least I have synthetic in there.

I do believe that it is the power steering pressure sensor thing that does that to startups.

Perfectly normal as long as once the car is warming up the Idle goes down after. There are a number of reason if it won't. That have been covered in the many Idle Issue threads on here.

IIRC the Target Idle speed in the E943 Bin for the GVR-4 is as low as 1700rpm in -20 temp and the Idle threshold is about 1875 at it's highest. So the car Targets these speed with the ICS as well as uses FIAV when the car is not warm.See this post on an Explanation on how to effectively disable it and should be pretty self explanatory based off the pics how it works. You can buy a Block off plate as well.

I wouldn't recommend removing though it It's there for a good reason ;)

CTS= Coolant Temp Sensor

ah ok confused me for a sec. I always referred it to ect sensor. makes sense.

thanks. its been many a year since i last went through a winter with one of these!

Definetly make sure BOTH your coolant temp sensors are hooked up correctly. My buddy's GVR4s wires were reversed and had a lot of start-up and idling issues. If it starts up just fine, I'm pretty sure you're in the clear.

Let it warm up to operating temp and then either adjust your target idle with DSMLink (if equipped) and/or adjust your idle set screw on your intake manifold.
