So recently i built up my motor so i could put on a turbo(eagle rods, low comp piston, bored 20 over, cosmetic head gasket, arp head bolts, shaved the crank for a lil bigger bearings, 350cc accel injectors, ported the head and so on), and now the time has come to start piecing together a turbo kit. Ive heard that the Godspeed turbos are not a bad choice and go for a decent price. I have been looking at the Godspeed GT35 .63ar model and i was wanting to know if this would be a decent turbo for me to start out on? And is there anything else i need to pay special attention to when piecing together my kit?

this is also going to be my daily driver so i dont want to go to big yet, just want more power than what i have now being na.

My advice, if you just poured a ton of money into building your engine, dont use an ebay turbo.

well what turbo would u suggest? im new to turbos and i dont want to mess anything up, after what i have spent on this engine i want to be extra careful in this build.

Why would you spend that amount of money and then have baby d*ck injectors? You need bigger injectors, and are you on pump, e85 , or meth?

How much do you want to boost and what hp goals do you have?

I don't know why you would go through all this trouble when you could've just bought a gsx but I digress.

well i was planning on getting bigger injectors with the turbo (at least 550) the injectors were free from a friend, so i had no argument because as it was i didnt need anything bigger for the time. im running on premium pump gas. I would like to be able to get to 300hp, like i said im new to this n need all the help i can.

you need bigger injectors and a way to tune it, i don't know what NT owners use, if you're staying pump I would get some 880s, if e85, go with 1200s.

Turbo wise, you could make 300whp with a 16g easy. Just need a manifold to bolt up. If not, a 30r or a hx30 would work and give you room to grow as well.

Didnt see anything about fuel cept the wrong injectors. Fmu 12:1. and I didnt see anything about your fuel pump so a Wal 255 should work. And dont buy an Ebay turbo. If you want a good turbo for not too much money go with Treadstone. I'm getting my turbo from them, they got a sick kit for 1800 bucks

After the price hike on the 16g even a used one might be expensive right now. You can make 300whp on a 14b as well. You'd need to run high boost as well as possibly a cam, but if you went with higher compression you might not need it. It really depends on the fuel, motor, and especially the tune.

As for 14b for 550s at most.... ever heard of the Evo?:ohdamn:

FYI I run a s16g with 660's at 45 psi fuel pressure with a 1:1 fpr with MS controlling everything and my duty cycle barely touches 65% at 15psi of boost.

I am going to hope you understand the IDCs are not solely dependent on the injector.

As you are acknowleding, you can push more than 30lbs/min through a 14B on a well matched setup.

I have seen 120% IDCs on 450s with a 14B. This would be nearly 100% on 550s.

So unless you are cranking up the BFP with a healthy sized pump with a rewire, you can max 550s with a 14B.

If you are advocating he use a 16G and 550s on the basis that an Evo had 560s as stockers, you are neglecting that this is a 40+ lb/min turbo.

Being that boost is addictive why spend the money twice. Do it right the first time, save money and just make an adequate system the first time.

If you dont want to go all out just use the 12:1 fmu or sfmu and a 255HP.You will be good for up to 8 psi and You will notice alot more power than na.Ive been using the same Godspeed turbo for 2 years now, daily.Shaft play is still good(nock on wood).GSP .57ar.If this is your daily driver I wouldnt go over 8psi unless your house is paid for.I do have a TD04H great for 8psi $125 plus shipping

His engine is built so the whole 8psi on a 420a goes out the window. If that is all the OP wanted to boost was 8psi then why build internally first???

Your info is good but I'm pretty sure the OP is looking to make more boost than 8psi.

I wish I had first hand experience with different turbos but I do not so I will not recommend any specific turbo.

From what I know through research and b.s.ing around what really matters is having a quality turbo. My .02 - find a good, used, quality brand turbo that was either just rebuilt or rebuild one yourself.
With all the money you have spent getting the block and internals right, please dont skip out on the turbo.

Find some good deals and post them here and see what the guys have to say.

I'm curious to see what numbers you push on the dyno for sure.

Op can you pm me specificallly where you purchased your internals and price compare with where I'm buying mine

did anybody read read this part?(Daily driver,I dont want to go big yet).I think he should stay out of the danger zone untill he gets familiar with running boost. At high boost he can still burn holes in his pistons whether his internals are built or not

OP how much $$$ do you want to spend?Do you need the car daily to get to work?Do you have another car to use for down time?

Op check out my ad in the 420a zone and text me at 804-239-4047
It's a Hahn turbo kit with a new s16g with zero miles rebuilt at Hahn, got it from a mod on this site. I also have fuel management to go with it!

@ OP... While there is some good info in these posts it might not be the best advice for you. Being at this point with your built engine you really need to look at what you will want down the road. Are you going to want to drag it, race it (autocross), or something like that? I like to buy the right parts the first time and I don't like buying a log manifold when next year I want an external wastegated setup and a gt30r. Also a lot is going to depend on what tunning path you want to take. MS is hands down the best, however there are other options out there. A little advanced planning will let you hit your goals pretty easy and leave room to grow down the road IMO.
