Edmonton,
Hey guys, I was talking with my friend about fuel pumps and what-not for DSM's... I mentioned that the Walbro 190 doesn't need injectors (maybe 550's or 660's) or an FPR to run near its potential for me (check mods), while the Walbro 255 will need something controlling it and larger injectors to run at its max. Please tell me I'm right, at least partially?

As a general rule, you do not need an adjustable FPR when using a Walbro 190. However, when using a Walbro 255, you will need an adjustable FPR because your stock FPR will be overrun.

If you're just going to run a 14B then all I would do is rewire the existing pump and be done with it.

Running the 190/255 pump doesn't require that you use any particular size injectors. The amount of air you're flowing will determine how much injector you need. Then based on that you will determine which pump will best suit your needs.

On a side...most people will say you need to run an AFPR for the 255, but not for the 190. I feel that if you're upgrading the fuel pump you should also upgrade the FPR so there is less potential for things to go wrong.

1. Since the stock fpr is not adjustable and the 190 flows more volume than the stock pump, a properly installed 190 should still overrun the stock fpr. It is often said that an afpr isn't needed for the 190 because the degree of overrun mostly isn't as bad as a 255....mostly. Most people that claims no problems running the 190 without an afpr probably doesn't even have a fuel pressure gauge installed so most of them are just guessing.

2. Larger injector are not required for either pump, you can still run stock 450s with a 255 but an afpr is a must. However same thing can not be said when installing larger injectors which requires an unpgraded fuel pump.
