I smashed my sidemount from an accident and I need a replacement. I can get a used galant VR4 FMIC or a 1g SMIC from a local. Im not sure how the 1g will fit in mine because the in/outlets look different. Here are some resources about the VR4 FMIC i found on the net.

Flow - Direction A and B 184 cfm
Mass - 3.4kg
Core Measurements - 19.7 x 41.5 x 6.5cm = 5314cm3

How well should this fit? How much trimming/cutting needs to be done? Does anybody have one on theirs already?? You guys think around 400hp or a evo3 16g safely can be handled?Thx in advance.

Jesus have you even taken yours off yet? Take it off and compare. It's not hard to tell it probably won't fit without some extra IC piping and being mounted as a FMIC.

Uh i clearly said VR4 FRONT MOUNT intercooler. I know i'll need IC piping. I was asking if anybody has any opinions or suggestions on it. Did you really think I said trimming/cutting my fender?? :D

Go with the FMIC, only hard part is that u will need to make ur own piping.

GOOD LUCK

Personally, I would look at two factors:

#1 How much are you getting this VR4 FMIC for and are there other alternatives at around the same cost? (ie JRC FMIC, Supra SMIC)

#2 From the looks of the picture you provided, if you do not modify the endtanks and the mounting brackets, your inlet side will be on the top of the end tank on the drivers side. I'm not sure what your experience is with IC piping and/or how much research you have done on them, but running piping to that on a 2g dsm would be a BIATCH.

I think you have the right idea, but I would personally look into some other alternatives before you make a decision.

Good luck!!

that is a jdm front mount, and it is upside down. there are 2 different ones, the 205/215hp one has 45mm inlet/outlet. the 240hp one has 55mm inlet/outlet. piping on a galant goes approx 180 deg from t/e/l, and critical to this setup on a galant is the flexible inlet pipe, which bends about 100 deg, and makes another bend. it is not sold in the us. i ran the larger one with rre piping with no problems for a while, evo 3 turbo @ 18 lbs boost. on the galant, i had to cut the hell out of the bumper support.

I believe its a jdm fmic. Would it still not be worth it compared to a stock sidemount? I'm wondering how much it can hold. I have a 14b and in the long run, i plan to go with a evo3 16g.

Anybody got any side by side pics of USDM GVR4 IC compared to its counterpart??
