I may get the opportunity to buy a VR-4 engine as a swap into my '98 GSX. I know its a 6 bolt 4g63t but I was wondering is there were any other differences in that engine that would make it more difficult to swap. I don't know much about the Galant so I thought id ask before i wasted my money. I just want to make sure it is the same 6 bolt that came in the 90-92 eclipses, talons, and lasers. I've heard about some engines having different mounts and also the galant had all wheel steering so i thought that it might make something different.

Thanks,
Ryan

4WS doesn't affect it, and regardless of the 6-botl it is going to need minor work to swap in. It is the same engine.

Yes, it is the same motor with minor differences.

Most of the Galant motors from overseas came with the tretchorous "Cyclone Intake Manifold". Also, there are many variations of the motor, some good, some bad. In my case, my motor came with 510cc (yellow top) injectors and an EVO3 16g turbo. :thumb: But my motor also failed due to an oil pump failure. :notgood:

The motor will work in your case, but be advised many people look down upon foreign motors.

The entire 6-bolt in a 2g swap procedure can be found in many locations on the internet, and is not that difficult to do. Here is my personal favorite for instructions, and also a very reputable site. Hope this helps!

**The magnus Motorsports method seems to be the most popular, and easiest, so check them out too.

Dont listen to that part there is nothing wrong with the Cyclone at all... it flow almost the same amount of air as the usdm intake does. With better low end tq ;)

It does flow the same, but to get it to work properly is not an easy task. Yes, dsmchips.com supplies an eprom to operate the runners properly, but a 1g intake manifold, like you said, flows the same. Why go through the hassle?
