:dsm:  I just installed a different k & n filter on saturday. The new one has adapter that bolts to the MAF. The filter I had before was worn out but bolter directly to the MAF. Every since the install when I crank it up in the mornings after the first ten minutes or so or until the motor heats up it does a violent jerking under a load at about 4-4.5k rpm??? The only other mod I have is a greddy type s and I have backed off the adjuster screw on it until I cant go any further and the problem still persists? Maybe the MAF needs some kind of adjustment due to more air than before being enabled to enter? I dont know im boggled? Please someone help its a 97 2g GSX. Thanks

Make sure everything on the intake is air tight and everything is pluged back in. Also could be up around the throttle body, maybe your FIAV is bad...people who remove them will some time have the same results. Also...On my buddys evo he got a cone filter and it did the same thing...went back to stock and had no problems. Let us know.

I've had the same problem with all of my dsm's.......

When the car is cold and you try to get into boost, it bogs and jerks....

I just keep off high throttle until the car is warmed up. I'm not sure if there's a logical explanation besides the car/turbo just not being warmed up.

I have the same problem with my 98 GS-T as well. Always a good idea to let your engine warm up before you drive it. Let it run for about 5-10 mins and you should be good. As far as a logical explanation, the only thing I think it could be in my car is my fuel pump. I have a stock fuel pump with bigger injectors (550's)

My car basically won't drive until my coolant temp needle is at least above the C mark on the gauge. This seems to be the case every winter, but during the summer its much better. I've just learned to deal with it. You shouldn't beat on the motor until it's fully warmed up anyways.

Okay, thanks for the advice I see that its happening to all of you all while its cold, I just guess with a cold turbo'd car you shouldnt romp on it until its warm anyways. Like I said it runs perfectly when its warm, just when under a hard load at low rpm when cold it jerks.
