As the title says, I have a weird vibration/rubbing sound coming from the rear of my 91 GSX. I removed the driveshaft because I replace my rear x-fer case seal, the yoke and I filled my carrier bearings with silicone to stiffen them up. The whole reason I filled the bearings with the silicone is because I thought it would fix the vibration/rubbing coming from the back. However, it didn't. Also, the sound only happens when making a tight right hand turn, and usually only when most of the weight of the car is on the front wheels (I believe). One last thing, it didn't fix the driveshaft thump problem either, I think it helped, but on even a semi-hard launch, it still thumps the floor. And it was the rear carrier bearing hitting the floor pan, because the top of the bearing was all scratched up.

Anyone have any idea what could cause this sound, and, what should I do? Thanks for the advice guys and gals.

Could be a bad Universal Joint - Try Flopping the Carrier Bearings over 180 degrees - worked for me. Make sure one of your Rear Brake Calipers isn't bound up?

BUCK, what did you do, unbolt the carrier bearings then simply rotate them around then bolt them back up? What about the rubber bushings, did you leave those intact or flip those after rotating?
