:talon: Ok i was really dumb and bought a greddy type rs bov without the recirculating kit. I dont really have the $20 the kit is right now because im saving all my money for college. I installed the bov and took the recirculation tube off.. I ran like shit and stalled... I read some articles on here and it said that the reason i ran like shit is because ur not supposed to vent.. Well one day i taped up the recirculation hole on my dejon tools intake pipe and it didnt run like shit and stall.. why am i not running like shit now.. i was looking for an answer to this but i cant find it. I know this Quoted from faq.

the reason its not a good idea to vent to the atmosphere, is because the mass air reads how much air being ingested in to the motor threw the turbo. when the bov dumps back into the intake track the metered air remain consistent with what the meter has already read. the ECU determines how much fuel to add dependent on how much air the mass air recognizes. when you dump to the atmosphere the ECU thinks that air that is being ejected from the intake track is actually being ingested into the motor and supplies a given amount of fuel to match the metered air. but that figure is now incorrect because the air is not going into the motor its going into the air, so now you have a disproportionate air/fuel ratio between shifts. i hope that made sense

so basically what this means is that im sucking too much fuel and not enough air right? Im a noobie and not a master mechanic. If i get a safc could that fix my fuel/air ratio problem>? Also can someone tell me why my car isnt running really bad? :talon:

So you were running the BOV vented and the BOV return line on the intake was not capped

In this case you were loosing metered air thru the BOV and introducing unmetered air thru the intake's BOV return so of course you'd run like poopy :nono:

With the BOV return capped, you should only run into problems when the throttle is closed (BOV Vents).

Spend the $20 or you will forever be taunted by this board whenever you post a
"problem" thread ;)

Sort of, but not really. If you vent your BOV, then your ECU thinks you are pulling in more air than you really are, so the amount of fuel it thinks it needs is incorrect. So, yes, it adds more fuel than it needs to......

Nope. If you want to vent your BOV to the atmosphere, there is two ways to do it. You have to meter the air after the BOV, which means you have to run MAFT in the blow-thru set-up. The other alternative it to run a speed density set-up (which does not use a MAS).

Not all DSMs run horrible when venting the BOV. I ran my car for a little bit vented and it 'seemed' fine. It was still running rich though, which hurts performance and gas mileage. So, just because it seems fine, doesn't mean it's not hurting you.

Put your stock BOV back on yes it may leak but its better then competely venting.

If the flange is different just put the stock UICP back on with the stock BOV. If your that hit up for cash i say put it back to stock

thanks alot guys.. I just ordered the recirculation kit with my cc from dsmparts.com.. I guess its safer that way..
