What the shit is up with mitsubishi discontinuing parts for 1g's?

Just did the tranny in my 90 yesterday and my drivers axle carrier bearing is whooped. Im thinking alright, no big deal. I know there are no awd parts cars around, I'll just call mitsu or a parts store and get a new one.

No such luck, its discontinued, and nobody makes an OEM copy.

Looks like Im just going to have to get the number off the old bearing and find one to press in it, the car is 25 miles from me and thats a pain in my balls.

Ok so has anyone else run into any of this BS with Mitsu and 1g's?

Its crap if you ask me.

None of those places have them anymore I went through this a month ago. I got some of the last pieces in the country. Kittay PM sent.

I called dealers, mach V, JNZ, big OEM stock online parts store, NATTA. They are all gone

That you probably won't have to worry about. There will be OEM knock-offs and re-manufactured parts for years to come when it comes to crucial engine components. I can still get stuff like water pump, starter, brake parts, etc from any parts store for my 1979 IH Scout.

Where you're gonna be screwed is when you need obscure mechanical parts, electrical parts, or any aesthetic parts. There will be a day where the only way is to find a salvaged part and rebuild/restore it.

Chrysler is worse than Mitsubishi. If they havn't already discontinued it (which, most parts are) they are about 3x the price of any mitsubishi dealership.

Chrysler was there for me...Went to my local dealer over the winter, said I need lower window trim for a 1gb talon, and poof...Two the next day...They were pricey but hey I got matching new window trim ...I believe parts lady said they were the last 2 in Cleveland warehouse

I got my window trim through Mitsu many years ago for like $30 for both sides. Then I wanted some for my dads car. Mitsu stopped making it, no one had any. I try Chrystler and they have it. I think I paid just under $90 for both sides. Own3d.
There are a lot of parts that you can seem to get, rear hatch weather strip was the last one I tried.

Broke my therm. housing went to my local Chrysler dealership and they said i was at the wrong place and that they didn't have any eagle parts, and never had. I gave him a WTF, and told them not only is there a 7year/7000 mi. Chrysler sticker on my car, they were the parent company of Eagle. My local Mistu dealership also told me my car and a 91 eclipse were not the same car and the parts were not interchangeable.

unless its changed, federal law requires manufacturers to only make parts for 10 years.
