Veilside price question and Octane specification question

I have a friend I work with who has a grey 98 GS Spyder and he cracked his front bumper by parking too close to a curb. Instead of having it repaired, he takes this as an opportunity to get a body kit. Since I drive an Eclipse he asked me. I don't think that there exists any reason to change the natural beauty of a DSM, but to each his own. Now that that disclamer has been made, I downloaded the list of bodykits from this page and showed it to him on my laptop. He likes the Veilside CI kit and I told him I'd price it for him. I looked it up today and it is fiberglass and costs ~1600 for the complete kit (without the wing). Why is this and is there a site/place that has them for much less (~500-600)?


Regarding the Octane, he liked that one as well, but he saw a pic of the flush Octane front. Apparently their are two kinds: one that protrudes in the front making the car longer, and one that is flush like the stocker. Can someone clear up who makes which and if anyone has them post angled shots of either.

But I guarantee you that it will fit, with no mods. what so ever.

There are a few kits that fit really good w/out modification. The bodyshop I go to has put on a lot of Buddy Club 2 kits and says a lot have bolted right up.

Okay... but other than "With veilside, you pay for the name... " no one has come close to answering either question, but only persist in discussing fitment.

for 500-600 if he wants the veilside all he is going to get at that price is the front bumper. No one has the whole kit for that price unless he finds it used somewhere. Veilside makes the kit..and sets the price...so you're not going to find a whole lot of variance between the various dealers and distributers.

with a knock off or any kit for that matter, be prepared to do lots of fitting, shaping, cutting, sanding, fabricating and adding fiberglass to get it to bolt up perfect.

No such animal that I've found ..and I've been looking for a long time. The closest thing looks wise that won't cost him an arm and a leg would be the rudora kit, the front is very similar to the veilside but a touch more rounded out.
