valve cover cracks

my 2nd gen turbo keeps cracking valve covers even tho i torque the bolts to spec (10in lbs)?

Are you tightening them in stages from the inner bolts to the outermost bolts?

Don't "torque" them at all. Just snug them down. Be especially wary of the inner ones, where the loads through the casting have a pretty horrible distribution path.

Torqueing valve cover screws will crack the cover. Perhaps you needed to see that in writing, since doing it over and over didn't seem to illustrate the situation too well.

actually the tq spec is 10 INCH lbs which is less then if u tighened them with an extension an 10 mm only no ratchet less then snuggif that makes sense haha and i do install them frm inner to outter.

Yeh, might be. And you've broken how many?
Do not torque those capscrews.

on the most recent one i didnt like i said i used a 1/4 in extention and a 10mm ONLY no ratchet i did it by hand and im no bodybuilder haha.

I thought the spec was 3 ft pounds? not 10 inch pounds.
