alright i have a 1995 eclipse gs with a 420a engine in it i have ported and polished the cylinder head, intake and throttle body, removed ALL of the emissions including the egr valves, the charcoal canister and all of the vacuum lines, and now i am having trouble with it idiling and when you drive it and let off the pedal, it will die, so what i did was pluged all of the vacuum ports and when i take the line loose off the throttle body it runs a little better and it idles really high i dont remeber exactly how high but high, but it still dies every once in a while, when driving it, like in reverse and when you let off really quick, i also have a cold air intake, a complete flow through header back exhuast, i have stock injectors, i just about comletely rebuilt the engine all except the piston rings but it has a new water pump, oil pump, new rollers, new timing belt all new gaskets, and new bearings, i just need some help with it running right now

any body please help i really like this car alot

If you have any propane just let some out near all the places for vacuum leaks. You could also do this with carb cleaner and starting fluid; but go easy on it with these, they like to deteriorate the rubber hoses.

No Offense Man But The Emissions System You Just Ripped Out OF Your Car Was Put In There For A Reason To Make Your Engine Run Efficently. You Probably Wont Get It To Idle Right With All The Stuff You Took Out Of It.

97 Talon ESi- Removing emissions equipment is a very common mod and when done correctly, causes no harm or issues with your car.

I'm not very familiar with 420a's so PMing a NT Wiseman might do you some good.

But to offer a little bit of light to your situation, sounds like you removed something (a solenoid perhaps) that should have remained plugged in or forgot to block off a VAC.

We need a wisemen here!
I don't know enough about the emissions to help you.
I'm not sure but these diagram may help you put it back together if necessary.

here is a good answer put it all back in but hide it under stuff so it is not visible if you dont want all the clutter

When you remove all of these emission parts It's going to make your 02 sensors start throwing codes and most likely its going to run like shit unless you get a retune to run without these parts. I had a ford focus that I experimented with like 4 years ago and I removed all the emission bs.....All I did was make a Block off plate to plug and seal it where it all runs back into the intake manifold.....Then remove all the other stuff egr valve etc and ran all new vaccum lines. I didnt plug the old ones I got rid of them completely and only had what was needed to make the car run right. I ran a step hotter spark plug due to fact that there is going to be more fresh air and fuel in your cylinders that need ignited. Then I erased all the check engine codes but heres the thing on my car the snap on hand held scanner I had allowed me to turn the egr off and run without it then it ran perfectly....There are ways to trick the ecu into thinking something is working properly when its not even be there you just got to research it and find out how to do it!!

would the idle air control valve not be working right? like when i put it in reverse or drive and when you let off the pedal it dies so i have a bad feeling that it is the iacv, it has to be a vacuum problem if its not the valve but if it is the vacuum ### thats what its acting like ### it might not be getting the right air amount, or could it be a bad map sensor? that isnt reading the right pressure in the manifold?

Well not that it matters not because I dont have the car any more and this thread is old as hells LOL but.. I pulled the motor out of that car and when I turned it to line the timing marks up I had the intake cam off one tooth. I figured out what I did, I did it while it was in the car because I had to do a water pump right after I got it running so I must not of had the gears lined up with the cylinder head.....but I am on to bigger and better things now ..............GST FTW:rocks::hellyeah::thumb:
