dartmouth,
I have had a vacuum leak since i owned my car, about 10 months ago i rebuilt the throttlebody with new seals and problem solved. About 2 months ago it started acting up again and has kept getting worst to the point now where its annoying to even drive. It stutters so bad sometimes it sounds like a machine gun LOL. Letting off the gas and giving it gas slowly usually stops it for the most part. This can happen thru all gears even at cruising speeds on the highway it may get the occasional stutter although it happends far more under load from a stop or slow speed or if you just slam on the gas, going up hill from a stop or slow speed is a challenge as it stutters really bad till i build up speed.

Its acting just like before i replaced the seals only worst but one new problem is when i let off the gas completely while cruising it slows down a lot more than it use to and jerks back and forth a bit. Also twice my mechanic said he started the car and it started at WOT and he had to shut it down and restart it so he thinks either the throttle plate is sticking and seals are gone again or TPS, i unplugged tps and took it for a spin and its no better. The idle also drops a bit sometimes and u can feel the engine struggling to keep going.

Vacuum lines were checked and seem to be good, so now im going to rip the throttlebody off again and check that soon as i get a day off work, just wondering if anyone had anything to add, anything else that could cause problems like this?

My gas mileage has also really bad now, and car is a 91 2.0L N/T laser with KnN filter being the only mod.

any help appreciated, thanks

1. Check your plugs and wires.

2. Check your ignition base timing.

3. Check your timing marks.

4. Run a boost leak test, yes I know you have a NT.

I can see this thread is over a year old. To the original poster: did you find a solution to your Vacuum issue? I'm am going through a similar issue and will test the items listed above. I' just curious to see if you found a fix.
