Would a Vacuum gauge on a non turbo Be point less?

Im wanting to put one on my rs that i plan on turboing as soon as i get the extra money, because i just want to keep a eye on my vacuum because my idle keeps dropping randomly and im not sure if its do to a vacuum leak.

I wouldn't waste your money on one at this time until you get a turbo on it.Do a leak down test and try to trace your vacuum leak.

A vacuum gauge will give you a visual guide to how much throttle you're applying, but not a whole ton else.

You can do a test much like a boost leak test. Just clamp it on your throttle body instead of the turbo inlet and follow the same steps.

you could buy one that's $15 and use it for diagnosis/tuning of some things, but since I don't think you have any plans to upgrade or downgrade to a carburetor so you won't have a whole lot of use for it. maybe valve/cam timing? BTW if you had a vacuum leak you would have a higher idle. could try to clean the throttle body, sometimes that helps, sometimes not. but it's cheap enough to ask why not do it?

Thank you for your advise i will keep looking for the leak and i do have a high idle some times but it works its way down slowly and to about 6 or 700 rmp, and im getting a CEL for Random misfire's in all cylinders , but its not? , and it also saying i have a EVAP leak that i cant find.

which ever you choose for your car, keep it none turbo or turbo, a vacuum guage is a good diagnostic tool if you wanna make sure your car is good. i would go with what the others are saying too tho. Keep researching your issues tho. If you wanna put a vacuum gauge on there then do it! its not gonna hurt you at all. just make sure you hook it up right.:dsm:

^^this...plus I have one and it is a great diagnostic tool. Granted I did not pay for it as it came with the car along with a blinky light 02 gauge when I bought it. "Check out these sites for more information:How to Use and Interpret a Vacuum Gauge
