Hey guys, So this is my first turbo car so I'm pretty new to it. Sorry if this seems like some dumb questions so bear with me.
So I'm currently running about 14psi of boost. I'm wondering is that safe levels for having stock fuel pump, injectors etc. What more supporting mods will I need to up the boost?

I have a 95 GSX
Mods:
Short Route FMIC
16G Turbo
3" Apexi Turbo Back
Inline MBC
Freshly rebuilt motor
Aftermarket BOV (Don't know brand)
A/C Delete
Thanks guys!

Type of fuel has the biggest influence on boost. What fuel are you using? If pump then 14psi would be safe.

Years ago I had a HKS Super AFR. It's was better than the Apexi's stuff but it's still not a "real" tuning device & it will cause troubles because it can not make needed changes to the ignition timing requirements. Until you have a way to adjust the ignition timing also I would leave the boost at stock. This is the best way to be safe with what you have.

What would recommend for a good tuning device??

Kind of pointless tuning on a stock fuel setup imo. 14psi should be safe, you will just hit fuel cut if the maf sees fit.

Yea figured LOL Im going to be getting wally 255, re wired, and bigger injectors not sure of size, and installing the msd dis-2 ignition system with a COP set up. Ive heard alot of people using the DSM Link, is that a good one??

Being on a stock fuel system and a freshly built motor, I would leave boost at stock levels. Here are some things you will want before turning it up:
  • Proper break-in of the motor
  • Up to date maintenance
  • Wideband
  • boost gauge
  • DSMLink if you can afford it. You may already have an eprom ecu. For logging and tuning even for new tuners. You could also go to the good old MAF-T or SAFC if your on a tight budget.
  • Walbo or similar pump 190-255lph
  • Rewire fuel pump
  • 560cc or larger injectors. 660cc or 720cc are a good fit to your turbo.
  • BLT
  • BLT again
Now would be a safe time to turn up the boost.

Save your money and stay stock on your ignition mods to put toward DSMLink or some other tuning method.

COP setup is useless and gives you more headaches more than anything. 1000cc or higher with e85 is a popular setup. If you want to go bigger turbo later on at least you'll know youre set with injectors. Like others said, DSMLINK is good for tuning but eprom chips work as well if don't want to deal with tuning yourself.

I already have the MSD dis-2 ignition, got it when I bought the car, the guy just never installed it... motor has about 9000 on it now, and I have a boost gauge. But thanks! I was wondering what size injectors to go with :hellyeah:

But just have to wait to do fuel and DSMLink until I get back from Recruit Training, and I was also wondering if i should keep the stock MAF or do the GM one.

This is waayyy overkill for the OP. Not for novice tuning either.

Sorry, I did not associate fresh rebuild with 9000 miles. I already stated suggested fuel injectors and tuning. Stock MAF is fine for your power levels.

I have to disagree. Couple of years ago I had a very similar setup to the OP with s16g, 1000cc's, 255pump on e85, 26psi. By far one of my favorite setups i've had. The benifits of e85 outweigh possible tuning complications. You can always get it tuned by a professional as well.
