upper rad hose building pressure

i will start my car and everything will be fine but after it warms up the upper rad hose gets pressurized. they are all new hoses and i have a new thermostat. also after taking my car for a short drive you can hear the coolant boiling under the hood. the car wants to overheat but i shut it off before it gets too hot. would this be the thermostat not opening? if anyone would know anything about this their info would b greatly appreciated thanks

You could check the thermostat, but I'd check cylinder compression first. Pressurized hoses and bubbling coolant are signs of headgasket trouble.

You could try bringing your car to a place that has a 'block testor' that tests for hydrocarbons in your coolant. Most shops have something like this.

The radiator hoses are SUPPOSED to pressurize. It's a pressurized system - it has to be to keep the coolant from boiling.

I'd make sure that your radiator fans are working as they should be, and that you don't have excessive air inside the coolant system. Also, try replacing your radiator cap. If they leak pressure, the coolant boils.

thanks guys i wrote back a while ago but the page did not load so i guess it never got submitted. but i did replace my cap and my friends gsx has a bad tranny so i borrowed his radiator as well just to be safe. all is fine now. my cap was getting pretty bad and i think that might of been the problem thanks again
