This thread is intended largely for me to jot down things that I think of in odd hours of the morning, and hopefully will see some insightful input that I've not considered, so please, comment away.
I'm picking up my Galant VR4 this weekend, #1102/2000. The car has a freshly rebuilt head (had a chip on one of the valve in cylinder #3, new valves, valve guides, etc), new timing belt, still has balance shafts, new BS belt, new HG, and all other associated work with removing the head. It currently has an Evo 3 mani, slowboy ported 16g w/ 34mm wastegate, ported dump tube, 3" dp, tp, exhaust. The car comes with a brand new 2g maf uninstalled, and is running on a n entirely stock fuel system. The clutch is shot, and is the first thing on the to-do list for the car. Car also has a new clutch pedal assembly, clutch master and slave cylinders.
I don't intend on doing anything ridiculous with the car, I would like to eventually run 12-14 psi for daily driving, and have a high boost setting of 18psi. Before running higher boost, I fully intend on getting a wideband and datalogger though.
I'm currently trying to decide between the ACT 2100 and 2600 clutches, since the car will see very limited track time and will mostly be a daily driver. I will of course be doing a new pivot ball and clutch fork while the tranny is off, no point in having to pull it again later right?
I'm also trying to decide if I should just pick up a set of 550cc injectors, a Walbro 190, AFPR, install the 2g maf, and run the car like that, or pick up some 650's, afpr, Walbro 255, and a DSM link. As far as searching has shown me, I'll be fine with the 550's on the 16g at stock boost levels, but some people have stated that I'd be running rich at idle. Since the car is likely going to be a daily(ish) driver, I'm leaning more towards larger injectors and the DSM Link both for peace of mind, and an added "buffer zone" as far as fuel supply is concerned.
I'm also wondering if the DSM Link/ 650 combo will lead to better mpg for the daily commute as opposed just running the 550's with the 2G maf, any ideas/opinions/experiences in this department would be greatly appreciated.
Will post pics and more info on the car after she comes home!
(I don't think I violated and of the "Newbie Posting Rules" with this thread, however if I did, I apologize in advance)
