So I was just driving around today after tightening my new serpentine belt, then I sprayed my car off. I got into boost real quick and let off. The bov sounded completely different, so I did it again and noticed I had spiked to 27psi! I normally only run 14. So it's Doubled! I don't know how this is even possible?

What turbo? Mani? o2? Wastegate setup?

Check your wastegate to make sure its opening.

You can use an air compressor to pressurize it, or pull on the rod to see if it moves at all.

Make sure your boost source line didn't come loose to your wastegate. It happened to me and it cost me a head gasket.

sounds like when u sprayed your car you sprayed the engine bay as well. Check the vac line connected to the wastegate. Thats likely to be the culprit

Okay, I ran to autozone and picked up a vac hose to check the wastegate. So what I need to do is connect this to the nipple on the acctuator and pressurize it to ~12psi to check if the wastegate opens. Correct?

On another note, my car has been sluggish the past 2 weeks when I hit boost it doesnt feel like anything anymore, but my gauge reads 14psi. I thought i as a boost leak so I ordered a boost leak tester from ebay and it has yet to come. Do you think that was a sign that my acctuator/wastegate was going to fail?

Okay. Just tested the wastegate, it opens fine. Could it have been the vac hose that goes to the MBC that was loose or something?

Had this happen on an old Volvo turbo of mine, simple free fix, but a scary 30psi overboost almost blew my motor.

Yep sounds like your hose came loose or maybe had a crack in it.
Good to here you got it fixed that could have been a big problem if left unattended.
