Hello all,
My car is sitting at the garage waiting for the rest of my transmission parts. I figured while it is there I would check on the price of labor and parts to have the timing belt done. The mechanic told me that there are two timing belts. Could someone confirm this for me, I have not heard of this.
Thanks

Chris

You're mechanic isn't too bright.

The only thing he could possibly be thinking of is the balance shaft belt, but that's only on the 4G63, not the 420A.

Great, and this guy is rebuilding my transmission. His secretary told me that she punched in my vin number and told me that there are two timing belts on in the front and one in the back???? Thanks for clearing this up.

yeah he must be thinking of the 4g63 timing + balance shaft belt, theres only 1 belt on the 420a

Oh... I keep forgetting you're in Germany. They're probably totally unfamiliar with the 420A since the 4G63 was standard in the EDM 2G N/T DSMs.

yea, you are probably right, I will go there on Monday and figure it out. Thanks again all.

Is there any chance they are talking about the PS/AC belt (front) and Alt. belt (rear)... They could just be saying "timing" but meaning the other belts.

Uh, doesn't he have a 4G63? I was under the impression that the European 2GNTs came with it.

Thanks again all, I will find out on Monday
