LOL, I feel dumb

u better be!! haha jk

I think i know what ur talking about, i ve seen the pics of those red 1gs that had like scissor doors or something really not sure what they were called but it had the Back to the Future swang to it :thumb:

People call a lot of things twin turbo not knowing there's such a thing as a single turbo. A friend of mine who lacks knowledge about cars was telling me about the Audi Twin Turbo Roadster he test drove. That's what the salesman called it according to him and he's not one to bullshit. *shrugs* some people are ignorant, don't hold it against them.

Side Note: Why is it an Audi TT whent here's only one turbo? That's something I always wanted to know...anyone? Sorry for the hijack.

There were no factory twin turbo DSM's ever. Never. You may be thinking - stop - NO. never.

There were like 2 people EVER to put two turbo's on a DSM, and it didn't work well, and I'm pretty sure they converted back to single.

There was the Mitsubishi 3000 GT Spyder, which was a retractable hard-top twin turbo, but it was very heavy, and a VERY LIMITED number were ever made. So limited in fact, that I'm willing to bet that one will never show up on a used car dealership's lot. A smart individual would just sell the car directly. And I'm willing to bet even more that your friend didn't test drive a TT anything. Hell, your friend probably drove a N/A car and is trying to impress you. Just call your friend on it, and call him/her a dumbass.

Is it a Targa Top? Maybe it's some other feature that had the same abbreviation as twin turbo, and they thought they could capitalize on it.

Edit: I don't know Audi's well, I'm just speculating.

None of them are Targas (to my knowledge anyway). Covertable or hard top.

I don't know if the covertible hardtops were all TT, but there was one on Auto Trader last year. It gave me a bit of the ol' want-in-the-pants feeling. Not really all that expensive, either. Luckily, I couldn't afford it.

uhhhh...I have never seen nor heard of an Audi TT in a Targa or Gullwing configuration. Show me a link or pics or something, I did a quick search and found nothing with a targa or gullwings. Not to mention the question still stands. Why is it an Audi TT?

Like Such?

If the DSM ever kicks the bucket for good it would be one of the considerations as a replacement.

I don't know much about the cars, I thought they had the 1.8t in them, same as the Golf GTI and whatnot. I didn't even know you could get them in a v6 till I looked at the website just now.

as far as the 3000gt........the Only "convertible" was a removable hardtop you left at home....My father actually owned one....it was blue....the dodge stealth also had the same variant.....but the catch was.....it was near 40 thousand dollars, and it came in the VR4 platform only.....AWD TT convertible.......but like i said...it was liek a jeep...oyu had to take it off and leave it.....PITA

looks like the stealth was a one off situation with a ragtop. neither of these cars ever had a removable hardtop.

Can anyone tell me if they ever made a twin turbo Eclipse Spyder in 1996??? Someone told me they test drove like 3 of them and it didn't seem right. I didn't tell her they were never made b/c I didn't know 100% for sure and wanted to ask some of you guys before making an ass of myself. i think you're confused my friend. the only spyders made were in 95 and 96. they came in the nonturbo SL form AND the TT vr4 version. no stealths ever had a vert

speaking of which there's a red spyder vr4 that just sits at this one restaurant day after day WITH NO CAR COVER on.. i pass it everyday and cry

yeah he is confused. He is thinking of the big glass roof that removes.

The Spyder vr4 roof was NOT removable, it was a hardtop retractable that a comapny called ASC (american sunroof company I think) actually devepoled for mits. ;)

The TT was named such because of an old race the Auto Union had success in during the 30s. (Something Touring but I don't know the German word it was)
"Mr. Thomas says that even the TT name, last used on the NSU TT in 1972, was controversial: It refers to the oldest road race in Britain."

That would be the Tourist Trophy.

this thread sucks, so now it is a thread with pictures of 3000gt spyder vr4s

This is #801 of 907 made for 1995. A total of 1,618 Spyders were ever produced. 741 were the non-turbo SL model and 877 were the twin-turbo VR4 as pictured here. That makes the Spyder one of the most unique production cars in the entire world.

This particular Spyder was awarded "Ride of the Month" for 11/2001 by www.3si.org
