turbo to exhaust manifold

the ring that is between the turbo exhaust side, and the exhaust manifold....do you need it. because i think that my car has a 2g manifold on it but not sure, and it fits the turbo but it slides around in the exhaust manifold....help
 
It's not critical. When you port the mani and/or the turbine housing on the turbo, you toss that ring anyway. I believe its original purpose was to help prevent exhaust leakage between the manifold and turbo. Just make sure you have a good gasket there and you'll be OK.
