Odd thing going on with my turbo... about 12 miles after my engine rebuild, the nut came off the turbine and obviously shredded the comp wheel (and the turbine backed out, dumping tons of oil). I removed the turbo, rebuilt it with a kit I had, and put it back on (all in about five hours after the problem, even!).
However, the turbo will only boost to around 5 psi - very very slowly. Meaning I hit 5 psi around 5k rpm's or so. There is always oil in the intake after a short run, and after it boosts for awhile, it will start producing white smoke. However, the shaft play is (obviously) acceptable, and there are no boost leaks (it'd have to be a pretty significant boost leak, eh?).
It dawned on me tonight that perhaps the SMIC is oil-ridden? It makes sense to me (doesn't have a smoking problem until you start boosting, then it's pretty incessant until you lay off for awhile), but what do you guys think...? Unfortunately I have work to do tomorrow so I may not get to it :[
