Turbo opinion and streetability??

I don't have any direct experience with high compression + boost, but I'd be surprised to see 400 WHP at less than 40 lb/min airflow.

Also, he already stated this was a pump gas build, and he probably won't be hitting boost levels that high. I don't know what a T3, E-cover 50-trim flows at 18 psi, but I wouldn't think it would be enough airflow to hit roughly 475 crank HP on pump gas.

Layzie12g was doing a little dyno tuning last night.
He hit 400whp with 26psi on pump. DSMLink was showing 50lbs min. That was with a 35R equivalent

A water/meth kit might be 1 more thing to set-up, but it should make tuning easier once its going.
You'll get cooler boost with water only, but Meth adds higher octane fuel to the mix.
Meth will probably be the way to go considering SBR had to use it.

20psi!? On 10:5 CR???

Yeah, uhm... Good luck with that whole knock thing. :thumb:

No I have been found by the other NT guys LOL j/k but anyway I don't see why you think it will be s hard sbr got 19psi out of there setup with meth and pump which is what I will probably be running well water injection. I have tuning set too so I have all the good stuff trust me I'llbe fine.;)

I've been following your threads for a while, but I honestly can't see what makes your build so unique? Not knockin', but besides for the high CR and a possible AWD conversion (which has been done, but just not cost effective). Sure no doubt you have secrets and your not going to reveal yet blah blah, but I mean even if you go through and attain your goal it is not necessarily something all 420a-t daily drivers care to do...

"I just don't see why 420a guys don't make big power too so I'm gonna try and break people out of the sterotype that all Nt's are slow"

What is considered big power? Many 420a's have already broken the 350/ 400whp mark and still maintain street drivability. I honestly believe that 420a's will always be the underdog when compared to the legendary 4g63 motor, but the respect for the 420a motor is growing more and more everyday.

I'm not sure if I'm just missing something, but it feels like you already know the route your going. You modestly ask for opinions, but when you don't like the feedback you tell them you know what your doing or get annoyed and defend your point. I thought you posted for opinions from people...

Like I stated I don't mean to start anything, I am honestly just wondering are there really no other 420a owners that have considered these size turbo's (with the exception of DSMZERO LOL!)? I definitely there are quite a bit making good power, but the R&D of the MSnS is setting people back...

I'm not a bench racer so I won't speculate on what will happen power wise yet but I plan on this setp being diffrent that's all I say. WHen it's done I will post everything then it will make more sense. I asked for opinions on the turbo not my build. I was considering giving one of these turbo's a try because they were going for $600 shipped on ebay from a company paired with a legit turbo company so I figured cross R&D would make a good part ofr s cheap buck but I found my holset turbo to be more reliable and more consistant and prved. YOu say people have made over 400hp who oher that awddynamite and hahn cause I don' see anyone. People are close like 384 and such like crab but well over 400 who? NOt saying I def will but I have the build too I will say that much.

On this forum I could not state, but if we're referring to the 420a motor there are a few on a few dodge forums and a couple on 2gnt. I can grab the links if necessary, but i'm sorry if I gave the impression that there were a huge amount. I just wanted to saying that you wouldn't be the first or only one, and I highly doubt that one or a few with give 420a's the respect they are due, only to the more knowledgeable ones...

Oh yeah meth will help out bigtime, but detecting the knock is whats so important. Are you using MS w/ the knock sensor too? I don't think 20psi is unrealistic, but you will certainly need to start off conservative and at a lower psi of course. But hey man I'm all for 20psi on 10:5! Would like to see what numbers it would generate compared to a 8:8 CR...

-Oh and Suieclips over on 2gnt has had a 400whp 420a for quite a few years now.

I had a setup similar to yours. 10.5:1 with a star turbo kit. I ran it on pump gas fine but only like 8-10 psi, I had trouble with the piston rings burning oil so I ditched it and went low comp instead. I needed a SFMU also.

The turbo I have is a Turbonetics T3/T04E BB turbo and it ran beautifully. It had great power and spooled fast, it hit full boost at 4k but it got to 4k fast. Now I have low comp 8.8:1 and the same turbo and it takes FOREVER to spool, still full boost at 4k but take a long time to get there. Before I could just mash it and it'd get power right away, even on the freeway it take a long time to boost unless you downshift it. I don't run my car like I'm at a race track so its not suitable for my driving style on the street. I was going to try experimenting and putting a T3 from my 280Z in there but I wound up going to the darkside and getting a GST.

So big turbo and hicomp works well but it'll be really hard to max the turbo out. Its too bad they don't make stock compression forged pistons, I guess you could have them custom made though. The stock compression pistons were a good compression for spool up and max boost. It just too bad the stock pistons suck balls

I kinda went from one extreme to the other anyway. I went from trying to make a fast 2g fwd go and now I have a 1g awd that I'm trying to make go REALLY fast LOL
