RRE's turbo oil line replacement...

RRE's Turbo Oil Line Installation Instructions

Based on the installation instructions this taps the oil source from a high pressure point off the oil flange... the question goes to anyone who has used this as a replacement on a 1G from the factory oil source point off the head. Is this too much pressure or is it somehow regulated/reduced by use of a restrictor?

I agree cooler oil from this point is better (I have a 1G 90 with a turbo, from the factory, and a very large air to oil cooler) but I worry about blowing out the seals in the cartridge.

Each car is different. The only way you will know is by measuring the oil pressure at the filter housing. Generally, the OFH is too high of pressure for MHI turbos without using a restrictor.

Why not get a braided line to feed oil from the original 1G spot on the head? Then you don't have a thing to worry about. I suppose the question you should be answering for us is why you want to change the location of the feed?

Max allowable pressure at the inlet of a MHI turbo is 48psi. Our filter housing source can easily double that amount- especially if you have no balance shafts.

Oiling information and restrictor discussion is literally all over this site if you search a little.
